| Was just browsing through more photos of the North American International Auto Show in Detroit when I happened across this photo of the backdrop of Ford's booth. Top left of that poster is a picture of the current non-North-American Ford Ranger. What do we suppose that could be there for? To tease the fact that we don't have it here? Or maybe, hinting that it could be coming? Am I reading too much into this? | |

| Donno But, the bottom left van reminds me of a sucker fish. And, is the van on the right the Mercedes-Dodge/Ram-Sprinter-Freightliner? | |

| That is interesting. I would think these presentations are well vetted by many people. You would think it had purpose. Or possibly just visual filler? Possibly a place holder testing reaction and closely watching what happens with the Colorado and Canyon.
I sense Ford is hesitant due to one fact they won't want to cannibalize the F150. They've already stretched the boundaries of the marketing scheme with F-"Series". 60 consecutive years years, 30 years blah blah. Right now if you want a Ford light duty truck, there's one choice.
Protecting the F150 IMHO was the reason the Ranger languished for years without any substantial new investment.
IMHO I think GM said F*** it. We're going to roll our way with what we have and the multiple truck brands. In the end it's about revenue and profit, GM's got more effort and risk involved. Remains to be seen if it pays off.
Summary Ford watching and is ready to start moving at pace if GM has any reasonable level of success. | |
