Going to Jail today.

This is the one place I don't like to work. They pay you a full day to work a half day. Since I haven't been scheduled to work this week when normally I have no trouble working 4 days a week, I took it. Everyone I talk to said it is a great job and you always have a corrections guard with you. I just don't like the idea of being locked up.

As long as you don't get tazed running to the bathroom. Some of us old guys to to get there in a hurry sometimes.

They seem to run a tight ship. Classes are short, and the bathroom is across the hallway. It will take some getting used to, but I would go back. Rule # 1, never tell them your last name or which town you live in.

Just tell them your name is Heisenberg

Already they were trying to guess where I lived. I kept telling them earth until the guard told them to stop asking a question they know they are not supposed to ask.

Give them the address for a local PD station.

I hope it turns out to be a decent gig. Give them a fake name with address and phone number of suicide hotline.

Seems like a good gig if I can get the mornings half day. I don't like 2 cameras recording me all day though. The guards do nothing but sit and try to keep awake most of the time.

However, some wonder if the teaching IS the way he gets out during the day.

Absolutely! When the State did not allow me to work due to a dispute with the pension board I was going crazy staying home. The TV does not talk back.
The Vocational District I work for is great. The students want to be there ( except the ones in jail, and that gets them out of general population). Today I worked at one school that has both a culinary program and a law and public safety for those looking to be  LEO, or other public service jobs. Love the culinary program as the food is great and they only charge you what it cost to make. Today as usual when I work there, lunch was on them. No 4th period class, so I was out the door at 12:15. Same class tomorrow.
Yesterday, it was theater at the Performing Arts Academy.

Imteresting, I didn't realize the law enforcement hired people with jail history. I thought the lie detector filtered out the riff-raff.

Let me rephrase that, the teaching job is a work release program.
The teacher IS the inmate!

Sorry if I made it sound that way. They are 2 different schools. The District I work for has 7 high schools.

Yup, I'm locked up just like them and have a guard with me at all times.

At least they give you internet there.
when I'm under house arrest, I mean at home, still no internet.
Heck, going on 2 weeks trying to get a land line run to the house. Been pushed past two installation crews so far, waiting on the third.

No internet at the jail, can't bring my cell phone in, leave all ID in my truck. Even in the other schools I can't get the password to have Wi-Fi on my phone or tablet so I just use their computer as a guest. I'm hardly on the internet at school, a quick page or two of news and done until I get home.

Think I've seen a movie about that. Locked in jail, can't prove you're not supposed to be there.

Not in NYC. Depending on the crime you can still be hired .

This jail is only for people under 21. After that it's the state pen. So far the gangsters don't look tough at all. They are all inked up and just want to do their time and get out. Out of the 7 district high schools I do, this one is the most relaxing, shorter classes, better pay.

I worked in the jail again today. You either tell them your first name or letter of your first name so they know how to address you. For example I use Mr. Rich.  It is hard to conceal your identity when one of the inmates lives at the end of the block and knows me. The neighborhood talk was they thought he was in jail, but no one really knew.

Good thing he didnt squeal.

Not that I know of. I was supposed to worked there yesterday, but the job cancelled at the last minute. Full days pay for 2 1/2 hours of work isn't a bad gig.

Hmm, haven't heard from Rich in almost a week now.

Just been busy this week. 4 days of work, 1 night at school for guitar.
It seems I will be visiting TN a lot in the next 4 years starting next September. My daughter committed to Vanderbilt. There is no turning back, it is a done deal.

My wife said Nashville.

I'm only 1hr south then.
We will have to try and meet up sometime.

I don't think I could take the drive at 37mph with the gears screaming.
