PostSubject: House Shopping   House Shopping EmptySeptember 11th 2019, 4:33 pm

Early stages of getting my current house on the market and looking at a place a bit out of town.
Haven't been in the market for 25yrs or so. Looking for a place with an acre or so, where I can have a small shop, room to park my travel trailer, etc...

So far, I'd liken the experience to shoving a limp noodle up a greasy, rabid wildcat's ass while both of us are locked inside of a phone booth.

I'm not looking forward to selling my house in two years to move. That is when my wife will have her 25 years in, meaning full pension and medical. Right now we have a 6 bedroom 4 bath on a 100' X 125' lot that has an extra 25' going to the water that is owned by the township, but in 26 years they have never used their right of way. One time they did ask for access looking for a body. Now only 3 of us live in the house. 2 come home some weekends.

Nice. Plenty of land, near a lake. Fishing whenever you feel like it.

Yea, that's a nice find. Lots of elbow room. Property taxes are higher than I would've expected.

Its by far the largest portion of our property taxes. Local school districts gets around sending all of it to the state by having local bond elections to pay for schools, etc....thats how my current town built a 70 million dollar, 18000 seat high school football stadium back in 2013. And as soon as one bond retires, they just happen to need another 350mil bond election, because "its for the children!!"....

Inspection was done yesterday. No big issues, a few small, piddly items. Caulking here and there, slow draining sink in master bath, loose faucet in kitchen, 1 screen missing...things like that.

Appraisal came back 10k higher than asking price, so I'm good there. Lender says I'm all approved with underwriting, just a few routine title details they are waiting on, then its on to closing.

Nice. Sounds like it is a done deal as long as the title search is clean.

Been in the current house since 93. The packing up, and hauling / moving process sure isn't fun.

I don't look forward to when we move. Too many things we hold on to.
3 years ago I had my son in law drop off a dumpster. I filled it up with household junk. Two days later, my wife rented a U-haul and went to her mothers who was moving and brought a truckload of junk back into the house.

Nice. Mowing the lawn just got easier. I have a 42" Craftsmen LT2000 that I bought in 2002. With attachments, grass collection, trailer, it ran me $2700. 22HP Briggs & Stratton Intec engine. Still runs well, keep it out of weather in a shed.
One time when my son Mike was 14, the police caught him at the Wendy's drive thru with his friend sitting in the trailer. Wasn't the last time it would happen.

PSA--Never take the wife fridge shopping.

But at least I'll get the current fridge for the shop.

Mine took a dump last year. I first went out and looked, then came back with my wife. For some strange reason, it went quick. LG $3,000. Door in door.

Dogs are traumatized but are adapting....

Been a helluva a couple months, but was worth it.

Good for you. Relax, take your time unpacking. My dog was not at home being in Georgia for a week. Now that were home, she seems back to her old self.
