2019 Half Ton Ike Gauntlet Tow Comparison

Looks like the new 2019 Ram compares very favorably to the GMC and Ford. The Ram had the best fuel economy versus the GM 6.2L and Ford 3.5 Ecoboost. The Ecoboost had the worst fuel economy probably as expected. They all towed up the hill very well and times within ~10 secs.

The Ram really came on strong in 2019. This is good, it will make the other two work harder.

Can't wait for a 3.0L Diesel tow off.

Have not seen any real specs for the GM I-6.
Wondering if it will be a low reving design like the 5.9/6.7 Cummins, IE long rod and stroke or over square design?

I'm not a go fast guy, so I look for the torque to get off the line towing or just pulling tree stumps and the like out.

Yes, I like the lower rpm powerband of diesel engines myself.

Wanted a diesel equinox but they were all made in mexico so we bought a gas model made in Canada. Just couldn't pull the trigger on a Mexican vehicle.

TFLtruck says a Canadian dealer network source provided a spreadsheet with all 2019 engine numbers. Unofficially the numbers are 295/450 (with 10 speed auto). The downside is fuel economy wasn't class leading as originally promised, only 28mpg hwy (assume its 2WD). Max tow was only 7800lbs only 100lbs more than the 4.3L V6! Oddly, the 5.3L v8 will have max tow at 11,700lbs probably in a lower end trim and the 6.2L at 12,200lbs.

Ford's 3L diesel numbers are: 250/440, 30mpg hwy, 11,400lbs. But recent reviews show real world mpg to be much lower.

FCA might have the best half ton diesel fuel economy. The 2nd gen Ecodiesel in the 2018 Jeep is at 260/442. The 2019 Ram 1500 will get the 2nd gen Ecodiesel later in 2019.

Seems real world vs estimated numbers are becoming harder to match up.

they dont even include the tundra in the tests anymore, lol.
