Quote :
The bill, which has already been co-sponsored by 30 House Democrats, would also require the federal government to issue licenses to ammunition dealers, in addition to requiring them to report bulk ammo purchases of over 1,000 rounds by “unlicensed persons.”

They just keep trying and trying using any widget they have.

They will keep trying, but don't get anywhere. Until Congress has the majority it won't pass. Two months ago they were trying to ban M855 in 5.56 claiming it was armor penetration. It was already classified as non-armor so they didn't get anywhere, but they still tried.
When I shoot, I like to replace the ammunition and add a little more each time. When you think about it, it's the ammunition that you spend the money on and not the firearm depending on how often you shoot.

Never underestimate the non-elected regulatory agencies who change the "rules". FCC did it, Department of Human Services did it. ATFBE was extremely close on the M855. Congress was pushing for the assault weapons ban again based off firearm characteristics. President does it under the ACA, Border laws. The DoJ sues journalists to reveal sources. We're about to get a shellacking on the TPP as well. This is rumored to have gun/ammo language within. It's a continual search using all vectors to gain the outcome they want. Control of the population.

Joemac is right, its not so much Congress we should fear passing bans, its the Executive branch agencies that will do it. Congress has less and less power every year. If Congress will not pass a bill a president wants he can merely use his pen to write an Executive Order/Memorandum or call one of his agencies to do the work for him.

Things will only change when the American people demand it. Vote in people will the long vision of what needs to be done vs short sighted campaign propaganda wins and will act within its power and force the other branches to do the same. The check and balances it way out of tilt.
