| Just received our 6 month property tax bill. The new pole barn isn't on it yet so the bill is only $370. Should this be in the "war zone" section since it's just gonna irritate you guys in the NE? I know my brothers postage stamp lot with a 2500 sq/ft McMansion near Syracuse NY is almost $8K annually. | |

| Geez, I pay $6,500 a year plus mandatory flood insurance that FEMA decided we must have after living in the house for 20 years and never been flooded even in Hurricane Sandy. | |

I would agree for the most part. I would say New Hampshire may be exception to the rule. High taxes but still pretty much a free state.

| I recently sold my house, mostly because of property taxes...it was at the point that JUST THE DAMN TAX would pay for a nice apartment. Not worth it anymore. | |

| It's out of control! Between property taxes, home owners insurance, FEMA flood insurance, and auto insurance I'm over 10K a year easily. We have been looking at moving to a different state in the next 2 years just to keep our head above water. With having a son in college, it would actually make things cheaper if I didn't work. His scholarships would go up, and his loans down. Doesn't make sense, but I'm better off having smart kids and showing no income for them to go to college and come out with owing little. | |

| I'm always amazed at the amount of a person's fortune the government ends up with by the act of simply taking it. I'm astonished that we allow the government to take almost all we have so there is little to pass on. | |

| Just think of how much money the government makes on everything produced in America. They start when the raw material is sold to a company that makes a product, they tax what he pays for the material, the fuel that delivers it, and tax the pay of the person actually making the product. Then the middle man buys the product and pays tax, his people pay tax on their earnings, then it moves into the store where we pay tax on the product we buy. Legal robbery and then the IRS won't answer questions to congress on who they target with the tax money we give them. | |

Proabably the best thing you could do. Then let the "new" state know why you moved there.

Oh yeah, federal and state tax... Some have pp tax, some don't, all depending how affluent of an area you live in will affect how much you pay ! CT has a 6.25% tax on all goods and services !

| CT is crazy the way they tax. Here they just do the property and tax the hell out of you. I'm at $6,500 for 1 year, 7% sales tax on a lot of things, but not cloths or food that you buy in the supermarket. | |

| Here we have 13% sales tax on damn near everything. Income tax is 35-45% depending on how much you make. We pay property tax annually but not on initial purchase. Maybe it all pans out in the end. I Just have never heard of an annual tax on vehicles before. Just another way our governments work for us I suppose. | |
