| Holy cow. They just keep coming. GM announced six new recalls on Monday, affecting 7.6 million U.S. vehicles, and 8.4 million total, from 1997-2014. Shares were temporarily halted. GM also announced that it will take a charge of up to $1.2 billion in the second quarter for recall-related repairs, including the previously disclosed $700 million for recalls already announced this quarter. | There is no way GM is going to be able to fix everything they have recalled. I don't know how they are going to track down the current owner of a 17 year old car that has changed hands however many times. Not to mention the people from previous recalls that still cant have the service performed because the replacement parts are not available. This is getting crazy. | |

I'm not sure how things are done. I've received recall notices for things I got rid of long ago. Does that mean multiple notices go out to anyone that had that vehicle in their name? On that note I've bought used cars and never received letters when there was a recall on them. So I really don't know how they are going to notify all (what is it now, 30 million affected) the current owners.

- These recalls are all a crock of crap by GM just to drive showroom traffic. Those buffoons still don't have the parts for my son's Cobalt. It's been on recall for 5 months now.
I have called repeatedly and even driven the car in once. The parts are always "2 weeks out" ...they just won't tell me which 2 weeks. Now or a couple of weeks in 2057.
It is all a PR smokescreen of "GM Cares"....meanwhile, nothing is getting fixed. NOTHING. http://money.cnn.com/2014/07/01/news/companies/auto-sales/index.html?hpt=hp_t2I rest my case. BS, Smoke and Sales. Sales win...meanwhile, I still don't have parts for my sons Cobalt.

| Part of that is inevitable. Getting people on the lot, there's going to be some pull through. Some people don't want to piss with the process of waiting for parts, and trade it on spot.
In my head I've questioned some of these being a recall and asked myself why not just publish a TSB for owners that validate the condition and complain. Some of these are software updates to PCM's.
They have some goal in mind they're all marching too, not sure what it could be however.

| It's all PR now, they are going to recall every rat fart that happens for the next 6months to a year until the crapstorm subsides, or until all the lawsuits are settled.
Money and being hauled in front of Congress has that effect.
