Just bought a 4x4 money pit 1980 Jeep CJ7

Picked up a 1980 Jeep Cj7 today for $1800 it has a chevy 350 and a 4 speed , rusty fenders but the frame and tub are pretty good .

Did you buy it locally?

I bought at Westside motors up by K-Mart I have known the guy that owns that place since I was a kid , the only thing I don't like is it has a V8 and the narrow axles I would rather have the factory 4 cylinder .

Why buy a CJ? Just to wheel with?

I have wanted one for years , this one came up at decent price so I pounced , it does a have a branded title "totaled" but its OK the frame is straight and the tub is straight .

1980 should have wide track axles, IIRC.
Had a few jeeps over the years.

A neighbor bought A 1976 or so CJ in very nice condition. I was surprised how narrow and small they were.

A 1976 CJ5 would have the narrow axles and is very short as well. That is what made the Jeep off-road capable. Narrow, light and short WB it could go places most other vehicles could not fit.

Or Just Everybody Else's Parts , mine has the narrow axles I am going to see about some wide tracks for it .

It looks like my list of things o do consist of
Chevrolet S10 fuel injected 2.5 liter (probably just buy a complete truck for the swap off of Craig's List  they seem to be cheap )    
Borg Warner T5 transmission
Body work or new tub
Wide Track axles
Plain white 15x5.5 steel wheels
Shoulder belt upgrade
and paint it Colorado Red  or whatever Red Jeep used in 1986

In my world Jeeps have 4 cylinders , I guess this Jeep used to have a 4 cylinder stock I may have to change my engine choice to an AMC 2.5 liter 4 cylinder I guess that is the kind of engine an 86 CJ7 had .

2.8L CRD from a 2005-6 Liberty would be sweet as well.

I just ordered a set of 5 wheels like the ones in the picture from a Jeep restoration place in Ohio $300 delivered  

I wish I had the money right now for the Jeep in the picture $13,000

Got my new old wheels and some elcheapo Goodyear Wrangler 235/75R15 tires from Wal-Mart  I think I will have to repaint the wheels though the color isn't right .

Have you watched "Gold Rush" lately ? they have a sweet Toyota Hilux in there I cant tell if its a SFA or IFS though .

I've seen several older Toyota Hilux pickups in both SFA and IFS variety, on the show..

I have a feeling they are going to get Jack-Sh*t down there in that swamp of a jungle. It's going to be one Epic Fail (and stuck rig) after another. While the kid up in the Yukon is going to rake in gold hand over fist..

Looks like Parker is set to rake in some free gold courtesy of Todd's old wash plant. Looks good on him.

As far as Greg dumping out that sluice box on the ground. All he has to do is go over to where he tipped it over, scoop up the dirt around there with his excavator, and run it through 'Ole Blue'.

There is bound to be gold in it..
