| Fence project started today. They are driving the posts now. Using oilfield drill stem as the posts, driving them in 5ft deep. Then will weld a top rail onto them, and add 4ft no climb woven wire fencing. Getting a 14ft gate on the shop side, a 6ft gate in the rear of the property to have access to mowing the easement back there, and a 12ft gate on the other side of the house. They'll paint the posts and top rail black. Should be complete sometime early next week. | |

| Posts are driven 5ft deep...they are marking each one to cut to 48" for the top rail now. Kubota skid steer is a handy tool. | |

| Any concrete for the posts, or are they feel enough it isn't necessary? When I was younger and drive a concrete mixer, you knew your day was going to be long when you had a load of 10 yards and you were doing fence posts. ____________________________________ Don't believe everything you read on the internet- George Washington.

| Topsoil here is 3ft deep max, then its hardpan caliche. This whole area is an ancient inland seabed. Basically driving the posts into limestone. The posts are solid. | |

| They have completed all the pipework, painted about 2/3rds of it and started building the gates yesterday. Should run the woven wire today and maybe finish it up. Tomorrow morning at the latest. | |

| Pup, you've really got yourself a fence!! In the early '70's I installed fences for a living (chain link mostly) and even then we noticed the decline in the quality of materials especially in the subcontract work we did for Sears. Terminal posts that were once Schedule 40 or Schedule 80 in the bigger diameters became steel tubing and the chain link fabric went from 9 gauge to 11 1/2 gauge. The quality of the fittings and ties declined as well. Nice to see something done really well. | |
