Sounds like the 2.7 will make a good 1/2 ton engine.

Apparently someone is using it for diesel outboards. I heard a 200hp diesel outboard from them costs $48k. A 200hp yamaha will cost about $14k. It'll take a while for the economy of the motor to catch up.

We see every new generation of engine gets better mileage because its more efficient and yet I never really seem to recall the actual result being any better than the previous. Power always goes up but mileage stays the same or lowers. It sounds good but I'll wait for the real results.
