| Nissan Introduces Class-Leading Warranty on 2017 Titan, Titan XD Coverage Matches That on NV Fullsize Vans - Quote :
- Nissan made a bold move in the U.S. market when it introduced the NV fullsize van in the North American market for the 2012 model year, taking advantage of a market with dated entrants and offering a whole new look and configuration for the class, as well as optimized serviceability with its long-nose design. Today, the fullsize van market is more competitive than ever, with Mercedes-Benz rolling out lower-cost “Worker” versions of the Sprinter and Metris and the Ford Transit aggressively pursuing the segment. Five years later, Nissan is ready to make another bold move in the commercial vehicle segment by offering a 5-year, 100,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty on all 2017 Titan models, following the success of the program on the NV fullsize and NV200 commercial vans. Unlike some other competitors that offer different warranties on gas and diesel models, the warranty applies to all 2017 Titan models, regardless of powertrain or configuration.
Phil O’Connor, Nissan’s Director of Marketing for Trucks and SUVs, said the warranty made a powerful statement about the company’s belief in the product. “In 2014, we launched the 5-year, 100,000 bumper-to-bumper warranty on the vans. What we’re trying to accomplish with Titan, is to communicate to customers very strongly our confidence in the quality and durability in our product,” he said. “What a great way to differentiate ourselves, and put our money where our mouth is by backing it with a class-leading warranty. We’re a legitimate, fullsize, full-range competitor. Everything we’re trying to do is to legitimize Titan as a competitor in the market.” O’Connor said the company has received a lot of feedback from its dealers that the warranty coverage has been key in closing deals with customers, especially commercial customers with a high level of awareness and interest in cost of ownership.
Nissan also announced pricing for the 2017 Titan and Titan XD crew cab models equipped with the 5.6L Endurance gas V-8. The 1/2-ton Titan S crew cab will start at $35,975, including $1,195 destination. The Titan XD S crew cab starts at $37,485 including destination. The mid-pack SV 4x4 crew cab goes for $41,895 and $44,375 for the XD. The top-of-the-line Platinum Reserve crew cab 4x4 starts at $56,595 for the Titan and $58,105 for the Titan XD, $3,610 less than a comparably equipped Titan XD with the Cummins. Truck Trend | |
