10 Speed Transmission

10 speed transmission related from the Ford/GM development partnership.  Ford previously announced the 2017 Raptor would get the 10 speed.  

GM announced this morning that the 2017 Camaro ZL1 will get this transmission for the 2017 model year and by the end of 2018 eight models will have it as well.  I would think there would be some truck and or SUV adaptation as part of the eight.  Possibly starting at the high end with Escalade and Denali, and working its way down market.

The shifts from the 10 speed, least in the ZL1 are video game quick like response, faster than the more expensive DCT transmissions.

Sounds like a positive development.

The truck question with supporting 640TQ in the ZL1 application, does it have enough torque capacity for HD diesel? Does Allison have a future?

IMO, they've gone to far with how many speeds available.
