New to the forum 2006 Dodge Ram 2500HD

I have owned Chevys, Fords and my last pickup that I had for 4 years was a Nissan Titan.

I sold that because I had to start traveling for work and needed an econobox. Job situation changed again recently but my wife would have killed me if I bought a new truck, so I searched for awhile and came away with a 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 HD with the Hemi, Sport model, 4x4 for what I thought was a decent price.

I have had all the fluids changed and they apparently needed it, though the mechanic said there was nothing BAD in any of the fluids... So that is good. I am having the spark plugs changed this week before I take her on her maiden voyage (camping trip south of Tucson).

I think I might also need to have her checked for any exhaust leaks... other than that she is in very nice condition! 160,000 miles.

Thank you! I was going to attempt the spark plug change myself but... I chickened out. If I cannot get a mechanic to do it before I need to go, I will attempt it.

The truck lived in Nevada most of its life... no rust or anything. Brakes and 4WD system work as expected. Has an electronic braking module (for trailer) so I assume previous owner towed.

The inside smells like a combination of a mechanic and a little like a dog. LOL! I like it...

Welcome. 16 plugs can be daunting. I did mine a short time back, though I have 10 less plugs, not quite as daunting.

Other checks and changes may include often overlooked or not service near the recommended time or miles. Diff fluid, coolant, brake fluid, transmission fluid, transfer case fluid, and front suspension bushings, tie rods, drag links. Just as you get time to do a once over, shake everything down, as you get time and cash.

As stated due to age and mileage it wouldn't be a bad thing to change all fluids. This way you know they have been done. Go over the front axle/steering components good since they are known to wear and cause wandering issues. Warning: you can sink a lot of money into the front axle components.
