| New 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor is a Badass Performance Truck - Quote :
- Ford yanked the covers off its new F-150 Raptor that sports twin-turbo V6 linked to an all-new 10-speed automatic at the Detroit motor show today.
The Blue Oval did not announce performance figures for the new 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6, but it said that it will deliver more horsepower and torque than current Raptor’s 411-horsepower, 434-lb.-ft. 6.2-liter V8.
Not only will the new F-150 Raptor have more oomph than the outgoing V8 model, but thanks to the latest generation F-150's aluminum body, it will also be more than 500 pounds lighter (+227 kg).
“When we created the first Raptor, we set out to prove vehicle performance isn’t just measured on the street or at the track – off-road can be even more fun,” said Raj Nair, Ford group vice president, Global Product Development. “The original Raptor, plus enhancements on the all-new F-150 set the bar for us to make the all-new Raptor better in every way.”
There's an all-new four-wheel-drive, torque-on-demand transfer case, with Ford also offering an optional Torsen front differential for increased off-road capability.
The Raptor gets the following six preset driving modes that calibrate changes to its powertrain, driveline, traction control, ABS and AdvanceTrac stability control:
- Normal mode for everyday driving
- Street mode for higher-performance, on-road driving
- Weather mode for rain, snow or ice
- Mud and sand mode for muddy and sandy trails and terrain
- Baja mode for high-speed desert running
- Rock mode for low-speed rock crawling
The new Raptor is 6 inches wider than the standard F-150 for improved stability off-road (according to Ford) while it also gets a revised suspension with increased travel.
On the outside, along with the redesigned front and rear ends, wheel arch extensions, it has a dual exhaust for the very first time, plus new 17-inch wheels shod in next-generation BFGoodrich All-Terrain KO2 tires specifically designed for off-road performance.
Changes were made to the interior as well with added content, three color material levels, and paddle shifters for the new 10-speed automatic. CarScoops

| Looks pretty solid. Equipped with the new 10 speed. Questions on using the a high HP 3.5 EB versus a forced induction 5.0. | |

| 2017 Raptors EcoBoost V6 to Put Out 450 Horsepower - Quote :
- That's what Ford Global Product Development Vice President Raj Nair confirmed, possibly by accident, during a TV interview on Fox Sports during this weekend's 24 Hours of Daytona, according to a report by Automobile.
Ford officials had said that the new car's 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 would make more power than the outgoing Raptor's 6.2-liter naturally aspirated V8, which was rated at 411 horsepower and 434 pound-feet of torque. Automobile says they expect the V6's torque to best the V8 in that department as well.
In addition to more power, the new F-150 is also some 500 pounds lighter than its predecessor. All signs point to the new Raptor being even more sublimely badass than the current one. Truck Yeah | |

| You're not alone. The 10 speed that's speculated to be part of the powertrain, should provide good driveability for the little 3.5 EB if they program it right. | |
