| Ram 1500 Wins MotorTrend's First Back-to-Back Truck of the Year - Quote :
- For the first time ever, Motor Trend has named a back-to-back winner of its Truck of the Year competition, handing the crown to last year's winner, the Ram 1500. Ram's entry to the pickup battle bested a range of new or heavily improved models, including its big brothers, the Ram Heavy Duty and Ram ProMaster van.
Other contenders included the twins from General Motors, the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra, the Toyota Tundra, the Ford Transit Connect, the Nissan NV200 and the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter. Just how did a truck that technically hit the market in 2012 best a range of vehicles from 2013? With new technology.
MT wasn't testing the same Ram it tested in last year's competition - it was driving the new EcoDiesel V6, complete with an eight-speed automatic transmission. When ran through the battery of testing, the torquey diesel Ram proved to be the victor for its ample torque and excellent fuel economy, while the team at Motor Trend also highlighted its air suspension and overall sense of style and luxury.
"Not only did the Ram 1500 withstand our rigorous testing, it thoroughly impressed our judges with its vast array of standard and optional equipment, and, most notable, its fuel-efficient, segment-exclusive EcoDiesel V-6. With 420 pound-feet of torque and up to 28 'Real MPG' highway, the EcoDiesel is a true game-changer," said Motor Trend's Editor-In-Chief Ed Loh. AutoBlog | |

| These awards are getting silly since it hasn't officially hit the road. And now there's rumors for March 2015.

| It's only going to be a game changer if it isn't a 5 to 7 grand option. Diesel is higher than giraffe pussy these days, paying 7 grand for the right to buy 4 buck a gallon go juice ain't changing anything. | |

| One saving grace with diesel is that typically the owner will get 50% to 100% back of the original cost of the diesel option at resell. Downfall is you still have to pay, finance it up front.
The 21 or 22 MPG they're seeing does merit some significance compared to my 15.5 to 16 MPG in the EB currently.
