Ram reveals EcoDiesel V6 option pricing on 1500 models

1500 Diesel $ Khjvb_zps3223727d

Quote :
...an optional 3.0-liter EcoDiesel engine for the 1500 model (the same powerplant that's gotten rave reviews in the latest Jeep Grand Cherokee) and the proliferation of the eight-speed TorqueFlite transmission across the entire model range. That engine boasts 420 pound-feet of torque to go along with its 240 horsepower, which means it ought to be able to tow just about anything the 5.7-liter Hemi can, while returning significantly better fuel mileage. Sadly, Ram has not yet released official estimated mpg figures, though it is claiming best-in-class results (though there aren't any other light-duty diesel pickups to compare against).

Pricing for the 2014 Ram 1500 begins at $24,200 (plus $1,095 destination), which is a slight increase over last year's $23,400 MSRP. Adding the diesel engine will increase the sticker by $2,850 over a similarly equipped Hemi model, though we'll have to wait for full pricing information to see how much it adds over the price of a standard V6-equipped Ram 1500.

That price increase is pretty modest, though it is on top the $1310 option of the Hemi on non-Hemi equipped models.

Interesting that the 8 speed is designated here, yet the 8 speed isn't available on many of the Hemi models when trying to build you own via the web site.

Hopefully it will be available in lower trim levels.

That engine is more than 50% smaller than my 6.5TD, has 45 more HP and only 10 lb/ft less TQ.
Should tow just fine.

For the 2014 model year, all engines are mated to the eight speed automatic.

This will also be the only diesel offered on the market in a truck that will have an EPA mileage rating attached to it, since it will likely be below the 8800 GVWR is it?
