New Tires for the F250 Empty
PostSubject: New Tires for the F250   New Tires for the F250 EmptyDecember 18th 2020, 4:26 pm

When I bought the truck used earlier this year, they had put 2 brand new Goodyears on the front, and moved the 2 decent ones to the back.

11000 miles later, the rears were mostly gone, fronts were about 1/2 done. Zero traction on a wet road. Like driving on ice trying to pull out from a stop.

Cooper makes a tire for Discount Tire, its comparable to the Cooper AT3 XLT's. Its the Cooper ATP, their exclusive to Discount Tire Cooper tire...they just came out with the ATP2. New tread design, new sidewall design, and same compound thats in the AT3's...just $45 per tire cheaper.

Bought a set today. Made more of a difference in the front end that I thought tires could ever do. I guess the OEM Goodyears were worse than I thought. To this day, I've never had a decent set of Goodyear tires, factory or otherwise.

$937 OTD for Cooper ATP2 LT275/70R18 E-Rated, Christmas bonus paid for them. 60000 mile treadwear warranty.

Nice looking tires. I like the Cooper brand. When my Michelins wear out I plan to get the Cooper AT3 LT from Costco. The Goodyear name has been around for a long time but I never had any luck with the brand.

I had the AT3-XLT on my Ram...I liked them. Wore like iron, good all around grip, rode well too. I hope these are as good.

Now it seems like the tread on the tires last longer but the tires get dry rot. The Michelins on my current truck were put on under warranty after the set I had on for 3 years had dry rot in the tread area. At first they didn't want to do much but I told Costco that I was a safety coordinator at work and would not let a truck go out on the road in that condition. I ended up paying $300 on tires that sold for $880. That was what led me to start looking at other brands. Cooper and Bridgestone seem like the choice for me when the time comes. They are less expensive and will last long enough for my use.

Last couple sets I've bought have been Firestone Transforce HT.
265/75-16 for trucks and 235/85-16 for trailer.

I have the cooper AT3 XLT on my tundra, best tires I have ever owned.

I gave up on good-for-a-years a long time ago, just never had much luck with them.
