2017 Nissan Titan, XD Single Cab Debuts

Quote :
One of the biggest complaints about the previous-generation Nissan Titan is that it was only offered in limited configurations: a crew and King (extended) cab and only one powertrain, a 5.6L V-8 and five-speed automatic transmission. For the first time in its 13-year history, the Titan will be available in three bed/cab configurations, two GVW tiers, and eventually three engines. The third variation to be unveiled following the Titan XD and 1/2-ton Titan is the single-cab Titan, which will be available in both Titan and Titan XD trims.

The Titan XD single-cab will be offered with both the 5.0L Cummins V-8 with the six-speed Aisin automatic transmission, as well as the 5.6L Endurance gas V-8 with the seven-speed automatic. Both powertrains will be offered in both two- and four-wheel-drive configurations. The single-cab 1/2-ton (non-XD) model will eventually also be offered with a V-6 option. Specs for the V-6 have not yet been announced.

For the non-XD model, wheelbase and overall length are the same as the Titan crew cab, with the difference being in the bed length and cab size. The single-cab model has a full eight-foot bed, compared to the crew cab’s 5.5-ft bed. Compared to the XD crew cab, the XD single cab has a slightly shorter wheelbase and overall length. Maximum payload for the 1/2-ton Titan single cab is 1,930 pounds, compared to 1,610 pounds for the 1/2-ton crew cab. Payload for the single cab XD is 2,910 pounds for the gas model and 2,420 pounds for the diesel, compared to 2,590 and 2,091 for the XD crew cab, respectively. Maximum towing for the single cab is 9,730 pounds, compared to 9,390 pounds for the 1/2-ton crew cab. Maximum towing capacity for the Titan XD single cab is 11,509 pounds for the gas model and 12,640 for the diesel.

Unlike the crew cab models, which are offered in five trim levels, the single cab models will be offered only in S and SV trims, reflecting their more work and commercial-oriented mission. Trim levels for the forthcoming King Cab have not been announced but will likely include all except the Platinum Reserve trims. The single-cab Titan and Titan XD models will be in dealerships late fall 2016.
