Colorado/Alpine Loop -June 2016

That's beautiful country. We'd like to move somewhere out there.

Its where I hope to move to in the next few years. I am done with DFW and the millions of idiots around me.

The wife's Jeep is looking pretty good.

Some of the most beautiful land in the country, still a lot of snow for this time of year. Millions would be bad but doubt you'll find a place that has none. Not on the roads anyway.

They had a late start to summer up there too, snow melt had just started to peak, rivers were running as high as I've seen them. Most of the people were there for that, the peak of the trout run on the rivers.

It was otherwise a quiet week. But we did notice tons of people streaming north on our way home last Friday the 24th, the next two weeks up there will be shoulder to shoulder with the July 4th vacation crowd.

As always very nice pictures. The Jeep is looking good. At 12,800' I would be passing out for lack of oxygen. At 9,000' I had a hard time catching my breath and walking. I sat for a while and it got a little better.

We are leaving for New Hampshire on Thursday for 8 nights, really looking forward to get away. Later in the summer I will fly to Fort Myers, Fla. for a week and then drive up to Georgia for a week, then fly home alone. My wife will leave for Georgia a few days after we get home from NH.

The place we stayed at in Creede is at 8852 feet. A few places on the Alpine Loop is over 13000ft. Not much air there. I had far less of a problem this year after loosing right at 40lbs.
I walked all over Creede and back. Stumbling ass drunk one night after catching a band at the local tavern. Alcohol is a real kick in the balls at that elevation.

Today we made it to 4000', still hard to breath. Also found out that I still have a lot of pain from the hospital stay for the gall bladder.

Awesome scenery all over the place up there. Wish I could make it back some time soon myself.

We are starting to plan a long trip next summer to parts west. I have told my wife my Silverado is not up to the task of towing the 31' trailer over some of those roads, she disagrees. Come to think of it, she disagrees on most things I say.
