The Avatar is working now, but it's half my screen.  I'm having a really really really hard time trying to concentrate on on the post with those bouncing.  Not that I mind......

Talk about from one extreme to the other. I generally do all my computing on my iPad, and holy titties, literally the entire screen!

Under HW Bush in 1992 a DoD directive had soldiers removed from carrying side arms. Only those actively involved in police or security duties would carry.

Early in 1993 an Army directive under Clinton stated that personal firearms could not be carried on base.

This simply defies logic. Brought up in a military community it was normal to have officers carrying a side arm with an active unit. Senior NCO's would carry a side arm. Officer of the day would carry a side arm. Unbelievable as it is the Killeen police are contracted to respond to such events on base at Fort Hood. The general at the press conference last night said it was 10 to 15 minutes before MP's and Killeen contacted the assailant.

What sane person would have the thought to remove firearms from the people best trained to use them? Its decisions like these that make one think they want situations like this to occur so political solutions can then be engaged. In normal circumstances there shouldn't be any politics with military carrying firearms.

Yes it's much better to be at the mercy of your slayer for 10 to 15 minutes until someone with a firearm arrives. :/ That's the situation they've created that didn't exist previously.

It also shouldn't go without mention that a majority of these murder suicides ends with the assailant once confronted with a firearm, taking their own life.
