Ram Outsells Chevy!

Quote :
Although some parts of the country continue to experience unrelenting winter weather, even though we are technically into spring, sales numbers for March are clearly reflecting a type of thaw. The big winners out of the gate seem to be the new Toyota Tundra and Ram pickup trucks, with the latter outselling the Chevrolet Silverado for the first time that we can remember:

A few hundred lead is a can of whoop a$$ on Chevy? They had high demand diesel vehicles showing up and big incentives. Look at the other PUTC article about 1/2 ton sales. That supposedly poor GM 1/2 ton redesign is a can of whoop a$$ on the Ram. We'll see how long this lasts before declaring a victor.

This hasn't happened since 1999 (reported by Jalopnik). I want to see what happens next month.

Considering how far behind Silverado sales they were just a few years ago, then yeah.

Another article on PUTC brings up Ram counting 4500 - 5500 trucks for Ram.

Point is the new 1/2 ton GM has been criticized while having more HP and FE than Ram and the Chevy 1/2 ton sales have not been passed by Ram. Keep crying in your beer Ram lovers.

No doubt GM is slicing and dicing it the same as you and aren't a bit worried about market share, that increased advertising and discounts aren't having a positive effect. Congrats to GM!  cheers  Very Happy

I don't own a GM at all now. Chevy 1/2 ton sales are still better than Ram without slicing and dicing. GM power is better than Ram. Don't facts suck?

That and anyone, at any time can walk onto a Ram lot and get the Hemi.

Has GM even started delivering the 6.2 1/2 tons yet?

I mean, one that hasn't burned down...

LOL, your right, they need to have some that don't go up in flames first then we can shop for it.

I think I'll keep my Hemi for now.

I do like that GMC denali 6.2 though, at least what I see in pictures and paper.

I'm sure it has the same problem as V-Max's stock GMC. Tons of power on paper, and GM nannied it away to where you can tap about 3% of it without having to spend a grand or better on a tune to unlock what you were supposed to have to begin with.

not to mention you have to spend 45-50K to get one as they only come in the highest model, SLT....

And at 40% that does not even take into consideration the point of assembly, which would lower that % even more compared to the 1/2ton CC from Ram/Ford.

GM has the 6.2 so limited on the trucks it can hardly be compared.

Does blind brand loyalty hurt? Or is it just a mental condition?

Here's what I've owned over the years...Who am I supposed to be loyal too? It's confusing. Also, was I supposed to by my Ram based on what it does against some exclusive, hard to get, terribly expensive GM? Damn....missed that too.

1970 Chevy C10
1976 Chevy Cheyenne
1990 Chevy Cheyenne
1998 Chevy Monte Carlo
1999 Chevy Silverado 1500
2001 Chevy 2500HD
2003 Chevy Silverado 1500
2008 Chevy Cobalt
2012 Chevy Equinox

1989 GMC S15

1996 Dodge 1500
2004 Dodge 2500
2008 Dodge 1500
2013 Dodge/Ram 1500

1998 Ford Ranger
2010 Ford F150
2011 Ford F150

2003 Jeep Liberty
2007 Jeep Liberty
2014 Jeep Wrangler

1996 Honda Civic
2000 Honda Civic

2009 Nissan Altima

2005 Harley ElectraGlide
2012 Harley Road King

2003 Kawasaki Nomad

2006 Yamaha VStar 650 -- 2 of these

2005 Honda Rebel
1979 Honda XR80

2005 Suzuki DRZ125

2011 Polaris Sportsman 500HO

In summary, IMHO, brand loyalty is for pure dumbasses. I buy what I like, not what some dumbass thinks. I don't buy them to bench race either. Yet another trait of the Silver Back Dumbass, IMHO.

I'd make a list like that and show you my GM purchases are far less than my Ford's, Honda's, and Kawasaki's, but you would still have the same attitude that I'm only responding because of brand loyalty.

Assuming it's only brand loyalty as the reason behind mentioning the truth would be all those things you call those that don't agree with you.

How long did that guy over at GMI wait for his? Well over 113 days.

On this subtopic.

Construing the content % number has been done for years now.

A Japanese owned supplier, with facility in the US Canada is considered domestic.  No matter if the raw material or assemblies it uses comes from abroad.

Domestic content includes both the US and Canada.  Domestic content can be rounded up or down to the nearest 5% within the model line.   Content percentage is an estimate of quantity, supplier price of the component or assembly, and the total number quantity of assemblies or parts for the entire vehicle.

Not factored in is total volume.  All things being equal.  Manufacturer A produces 10 vehicles with 70% domestic content, Manufacturer B produces 100 vehicles with 60% domestic content.   Manufacturer A produces vehicles with more domestic content.  Manufacturer B produces more value for the economy in total scale/volume of assemblies/parts.

This just like the way towing and payload are calculated or the way that that annual inflation is calculated is such an absolute mess and utterly confusing on purpose , there's not much substance to any of these numbers any longer. 12k lb towing 1/2 tons, sure. CPI 2% annually, sure again. Everything is a scam.
