Nissan Announces U.S. Pricing for 2013 Frontier – Increased Fuel Economy, Select M.S.R.P. Reductions of up to $1,450 USD and New 4x2 Desert Runner Model Highlight the Changes for the New Model Year –
FRANKLIN, Tenn. – Nissan North America, Inc. (NNA) today announced U.S. pricing for the 2013 Nissan Frontier, which includes a new reduced starting Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price of $17,990 USD for the Frontier S King Cab 4x2 with inline 4-cylinder engine and manual transmission – a reduction of $1,270 over the similar 2012 model. In addition, the popular Frontier SV Crew Cab features a starting price of $23,990 USD – a drop of $1,450 USD compared to the 2012 SV Crew Cab.
Other notable changes for 2013 include the return of the Desert Runner model, which is priced at $23,760 USD for the King Cab and $25,010 USD for the Crew Cab model. The Desert Runner provides an off-road look and equipment such as Bilstein® off-road performance shock absorbers but in a 4x2 package.
Other enhancements include revised PRO-4X content, including the addition of RearView Monitor, Rear Sonar System and upgraded audio. The previous SV Premium Utility Package is now the SV Value Truck Package and includes new content such as RearView Monitor and Dual Zone Air Conditioning. The SV Value Truck Package is priced at a savings of $700 USD for the King Cab and $650 USD for the Crew Cab versus the price of the items if sold separately (package comes standard on all SV models with manual transmission). Three new exterior colors are also offered across the 2013 Frontier lineup.
For 2013, Frontier again offers an exceptional level of on- and off-road performance with the use of a 4.0-liter DOHC V6 engine rated at 261 horsepower and 281 lb-ft of torque. A 152-horsepower 2.5-liter inline 4-cylinder engine is also available (King Cab only). With its strong performance, combined with good fuel mileage (19 city, 23 highway, I4 King Cab 2WD M/T), the Frontier is a fitting truck for work or play.
Fuel economy for most 2013 Frontier models has increased one-to-two miles per gallon due to reduced engine friction and enhanced aerodynamics. A seal has been added between the cab and bed, the front spoiler has been extended and rear tire wind deflections and a new tailgate spoiler have been added.
A Desert Runner model is added to King Cab 4x2 A/T and Crew Cab 4x2 A/T and the Value Truck Package replaces previous SV Premium Utility Package and now includes floor mats, Dual Zone Auto A/C, RearView Monitor, rear sonar, sliding bed extender and trailer hitch.
In addition, PRO-4X models add Satin Chrome grille, fog lights, revised logos and decals, updated contrast stitching and seat embroidery, RearView Monitor, rear sonar, Dual Zone Auto A/C and auto on/off headlights, while SL models add rear view camera, rear sonar, Dual Zone Auto A/C and auto on/off headlights. SV models add SiriusXM Satellite Radio (SiriusXM subscription required, sold separately) and an additional 12V power outlet. A Bluetooth® Hands-Free Phone added to SV and Desert Runner models and slide-on-rod style sunvisors are added for all models. Finally, a navigation system is added to SL models and the PRO-4X Luxury Package, and a Display Audio with CD/AM/FM/Aux/USB is available with SV, Desert Runner and PRO-4X models. Three new exterior colors are available for 2013: Glacier White, Graphite Blue and Cayenne Red. Source: Nissan

And I truly don't understand Nissan's thinking there. Specially now considering the demise of the Ranger and Dakota, Nissan could definitely make up a bunch of market share from their absence. Maybe we'll get it with the next generation, but that won't be til '15 or '16 probably. | |
