Reading an online news story I learned how to blur google map image of your home related to privacy concerns. It's easy to do.
Go to google maps with your home address. Select 'Report a problem' at the bottom of the screen. Select 'Privacy concerns.' Complete the rest of the page: email address, enter your address, and hit 'submit.'

Sounds legit, all we have to do is give them our private info first.

Kind of like having to provide all of your identity attributes before being able to shop for healthcare plans.
Funny I can shop Amazon browse millions of items and cost without submitting anything.
It's not like Google has no covert relations with any one or multiples of the 16 intelligence agencies we have. They already know where we live and much more. They're satellite imagery has much better resolution than what Google publishes publicly.
It would seem this is more of a feel good mechanism than anything truly effective.

That could be an issue. However, the truth is, if you have an android phone, use chrome browser, or use google features they already have more than that information. I have a google phone, use chrome, and once used google+ so the info above is nothing. They gather info from emails, calls, VM, online activity so your home address is pretty basic info for them.
I don't want anyone to be able to case the home from online. My wife's work requires some anonymity so we're pretty much off the grid publicly as it is.
I love Amazon. We signed up for AmazonPrime for $79/yr. You get 2 day free shipping on everything, free streaming videos (we dumped Netflix), etc. However Amazon hasn't turned a profit yet. They're slowly killing off the competition and will probably will turn the profit screws up later.

It's crazy how everyone wants email addresses these days. I probably already mentioned how my haircut store asks for home #, address, and email address. I tell them it's unlisted. But dummies give it up all day long. What's your phone #? blah blah....

I like when retail outlets ask for a zip and I reply "90210"

And more recently they're trying to connect personal identity to online facial imaging. Gotta watch out for pictures on your social media sites.
