Ram/Cummins is the first to the 1000 lb-ft club with the new re-engineered 6.7 Cummins.
Crazy where these things are going compared to just a few years ago.

I guess torque is the inline 6's wheelhouse - might as well flaunt it if you got it. It's too bad they don't advertise mpg so customers could weigh the effects of hp/tq changes over model years.

I still have to wonder how safe this is. I believe I saw something like 35,000 tow capacity. That's a little scary when you realize class 8 trucks can be legally loaded with about 43,000 pounds. So now we have less than a 10,000 lb difference separating pickups and semis abilities.

I think what has increased torque in these new engines is the injectors ability to add fuel several times during the combustion stroke, effectively making them a super long stroke engine.

Gotta wonder at what point these increased direct injector spray cycles cause significant oil dilution. Some modern small displacement direct injection turbo gas engines are having those teething pains. Maybe it's related to their significantly smaller combustion chambers?
