| This just makes me sick. Hunting is a daily part of life here, now my taxes will pay to defend the school on this foolish suspension. Gun Group Wants Suspended Students Be Allowed To Return To Class
The suspensions are a clear violation of the First and Second Amendments, gun group attorney says By Patricia A. Miller, Patch Staff | Mar 16, 2018 4:31 pm ET
LACEY TOWNSHIP, NJ - The Lacey Township School District's suspension of two high school students because they posted pictures of themselves online posing with guns at a private rifle range violates both the First and Second Amendments, says the attorney representing a New Jersey gun organization association.Suspending the two boys because they posted the picture - which was taken off school grounds and unrelated to school activities on Snapchat - was a "very serious violation" of their rights, said attorney Daniel L. Schmutter. And the organization - the Association of New Jersey Rifle and Pistol Clubs - is prepared to sue the district if the suspensions are not rescinded and the district apologizes to the students and their families, he said in a recent letter to Superintendent Craig Wigley and Principal Gregory Brandis."We hope they will do the right thing," Schmutter said. The boys have been in school this past week, but have not been allowed in class. They are both straight-A students who take some advanced placement courses, he said."These are top-quality kids," Schumuter said. "It's astonishing what they have done to these kids."The Lacey school district follows the Safe Schools Initiative, the Zero Tolerance for Guns Act and the district's own zero-tolerance policy for any students who have weapons in their possession, on or off school grounds. The possible penalties include long-term suspension, evaluation by the high school Child Study Team and possibly a recommendation to the Board of Education for an one-year suspension, the letter states. When asked about recent reports on Facebook about the students' suspension, Superintendent Craig Wigley said social media reports were untrue and that he didn't comment on student matters.

| I doubt it goes anywhere but if it did the taxpayers would pay dearly on that one. And if it's a public school they should easily lose the case.
Things have changed. The media has gained much control over social action and policy discussion these days.
I'm surprised the media isn't discussing banning pedestrian bridges in Florida.
So far, I'm thinking Montana and Wyoming might be the best states to move to.

| My wife has 3 years until she can retire with a good pension and full medical benefits. That seems like eternity until we can get out of here. On 3/26 the State Senate will ban all semi-automatic firearms. There aren't enough Republicans to stop it. This State was bad before, now it is worse. Everything I have that is banned will have to go to Georgia until we get out of here. I worked in this high school for 2 years and have shot trap with one of the boys involved. The high school received this letter from a law firm this week. https://c.ymcdn.com/sites/anjrpc.site-ym.com/resource/resmgr/docs/Demand_Letter_to_Lacey_Schoo.PDF | |

| On Friday March 16, the School Board changed the Policy, I have the old and new, and it now doesn't say anything about firearms off of school property. The Board also now states that is not why the students were suspended. It was because of another school rule. They CYA so quick they look like fools trying to avoid a lawsuit. | |

| Can anyone remember the last time one of these narcissitic ass clowns admitted they were somehow wrong in their thinking? If anything, they only dig in deeper and become more asinine.

| Now Fox News is covering the story. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/uproar-after-new-jersey-high-school-allegedly-suspends-students-over-gun-range-photo/ar-BBKpjbC?ocid=spartandhpA New Jersey high school came under fire Friday after it allegedly suspended two students over a gun photo taken during a family visit to a shooting range. News of the unnamed students' suspension circulated through a Lacey Township Facebook group, according to NJ.com. Amanda Buron, a Lacey resident and family friend of one of the suspended students said one of the photos shared on SnapChat featured four rifles, ammunition clips and a gun duffel with the caption "fun day at the range," NJ.com reported. Buron said the two students received a five-day in-school suspension after the picture drew the attention of Lacey Township High School officials, who argued that it violated the school’s policy on weapons possession. The school district shortly faced community backlash for the alleged suspension, with many calling for people to appear at the school board's next meeting Monday to protest the decision. The school, however, denied the students were suspended for over the picture. "Information posted on social media is incorrect,” Lacey schools Superintendent Craig Wigley told the publication last week. The officials declined to provide any additional details or point out what exactly was false. The controversy brought the attention of a New Jersey gun advocacy group that sent the school district a cease and desist letter and threatening a lawsuit if it does not overturn the suspension of the students and change the policies regarding the Second Amendment. The Association of New Jersey Rifle & Pistol Clubs (ANJRPC) said in a letter that the school’s policies allow suspending students for up to a year if they are "reported to be in possession of a weapon of any type for any reason or purpose on or off school grounds." “The policy is clearly wrong and violates the Second Amendment. We hope that they're reasonable people and they will fix it. If they don't, we're prepared to take legal action,” ANJRPC executive director Scott Bach told NJ.com. The group also demands the school to apologize to the two suspended teens. “Schools do not have the authority to chill the rights of their students off of school grounds, and this blatant infringement of constitutional rights will not be tolerated," Bach added. "I don't care if no students were disciplined. The policy has got to go." Overtly broad policies of the school district have been criticized in the past. Ed Cardinal, whose son attends a school in the same district, said the officials once demanded his son to remove a window sticker of a gun from his pickup truck that he drives to school. "He was kind of heated about it and so was I," Cardinal said. They abided by the demands and removed sticker after the district threatened to punish the teen. | |

| Where is the ACLU in this fight?
I hope the school loses and badly. As does NJ with what would appears to be an unconstitutional law.

| The school is out of control. For the 2 years I worked there, I had and still have a Molon labe sticker on my back window of my pickup. I guess they have no idea what it means | |

My thought at the time was that if got faded or started to peel, I could easily take it off with a razor blade and some heat. I would guess it has been on for 4 years and looks as good as the day I put it on.

| I can't imagine what this country will become as this generation of kids are adults. Then again, maybe that's always been said about kids. I'm sure most of this anti gun BS was put in their heads by adults who don't know any better. | |

| Liberals have no problem taking away a right they don't want for themselves, but scream loudly if anyone infringes on a right they feel entitled to.
If even one life is saved by taking away the rights of millions of gun owners, then it is worth it too them. Take away the "right" of millions of people here illegally to save Kate Steinle and that is horrible.

| And their letting the mouths of babes do the heavy lifting for them.
Schools and Chicago are gun free and look what we have. In the end, the good guys with guns run into the fire. Innocent victims attempt to run away from the fire. The solution seems obvious.
