| 2017 FORD SUPER DUTY CONFIGURATOR LEAKED: F-450 PLATINUM MAXES OUT AT $88,605 - Quote :
- The 2017 Ford Super Duty is ever so close to arriving at your local dealer. The dealer order guide has been open for a couple of weeks. You should be able to order a 2017 truck now. However, some details about the fully redesigned truck are still unknown. Ford has not officially released the maximum payload and towing capacities for the new heavy duty truck lineup. The power ratings for the 6.2-liter gas V8 and the 6.7-liter Power Stroke turbo-diesel V8 are still a mystery.
Many questions are floating around about the new Super Duty. Will the next version of the 6.7-liter Power Stroke engine produce over 900 lb-ft of torque. Will the truck have class leading maximum payload and towing rating numbers? Will it be the first consumer-focused heavy duty truck to break into the $90,000 range?
We can get a little closer to the answers with the 2017 Super Duty Online Configurator that was recently leaked. The pricing appears inline with an earlier report that put the starting price for a Super Duty regular cab 4×2 XL model at $33,730 with destination charges.
Can this truck break the $90,000 price point? I spent a fair chunk of time with the configurator adding every conceivable option to a 2017 Ford F-450 Platinum 4×4 and the highest price I could come up with was $88,605. This is nearly $10,000 more than a fully loaded 2016 F-450 Platinum 4×4. Ford continues to market the F-450 alongside the F-350 trucks.
how much is a popular configuration of the new truck? A 2017 F-250 Super Crew 4×4 XLT model with the Power Stroke diesel is a much more reasonable $54,020.
The leaked configurator does not appear to show correct max payload or towing ratings. The maximum payload is listed at 14,500 lbs. However, this is over seven tons of weight, which is nearly double the rating of a comparable 2016 truck. We will let you know when we get new information and specifications. TFL Truck

| That is a crazy, the price of vehicles are out of control. No working person should have to pay that much for a truck. The economy is in the dumper, yet let's charge even more for trucks! I'm disgusted. ____________________________________ Don't believe everything you read on the internet- George Washington.

| Lariat used to be top of the line, what is it now, about 16 rungs down?
There is no end to the luxury packages being added on jacking the prices up to idiotic levels.

| I bought my first F-150 Lariat XLT in 1991. At the time I thought it was the Gold Standard, 2 gas tanks, power everything. It was a good truck, Kept it until 1998 until the family grew and a one seat truck couldn't carry us all. ____________________________________ Don't believe everything you read on the internet- George Washington.

You can't even get a mid-size truck for that now. Crazy!

| Ford and all the others are only putting in crap that people want. I laughed and shook my head in sadness at this line "A 2017 F-250 Super Crew 4×4 XLT model with the Power Stroke diesel is a much more reasonable $54,020."
I blame people because companies cant be the moral compass or they would go out of business. I mean look at cell phones; heart rate sensors, pedometers, finger print scanners, supposedly iris scanners are next, and I dont need a damn one of them! Nor does anyone because if you really need a secure phone you still need to use a horribly designed Blackberry or buy a high priced encrypted Android. After taxes, top of the line tablets and phones are over $1,000 and in the case of the iPad Pro its over $1,000 before taxes.
Also, who wants to drive a F-450 Platinum? I cant see that many selling because all the F-450's I see have utility beds so they get driven to a site and then the person gets out and gets to work, they are all XL models.
I just built a Dodge Ram 4500 maxed out I got it to "only" $58,325.
A 2016 SIERRA 3500 HD DENALI 4WD CREW CAB, LONG BOX DUAL REAR WHEEL DENALIi (didnt see a 4500) I got up to $71,200. That was after $750 cash back, $1,750 total cash allowance and a package discount of $1,500.
I think I may know why Ram sales are so much better than they used to be. They are a heck of a lot more affordable than the competition, at least in my comparison. And the article said Ford price had gone up about 10k from last year so who knows what Ram and GM's prices will be for 2017.

| When I bought my Dodge in 2003 it was 5to 8k cheaper than comparable Ford and GM trucks. And that's what made my decision. Wasn't brand loyalty or because I liked it over the others. In 2003 it still cost me 23k after rebates. I can't even find used trucks without outrageous milag on them for that price now. I'll probably never be able to by a new truck again because of the prices of them now. | |

| IIRC our sons 2015 GMC CC/LB/DRW, D/A and 4x4 had a sticker of $50K and paid $45K and change. He ordered a base Diesel for towing/work.
Thing I don't like is all these "yuppies" that are pushing the price up are also making the working person buy these packages to get certain options. Went to the GMC site to build a base 2500HD Diesel. The $200 remote start "option" is actually in excess of $1000 after the required packages.

| I noticed the same think when I was building it. I nearly mentioned the absurdity in my above comments but didn't.
Even base models are getting crazy now. And that's making older pickups stay very high in price IMO. You have to find one that's beat half way to hell to not need to take out a small loan to afford it.
