- new era of homegrown radicals
These people are not homegrown domestic terrorists. They are either here on visas, many expired, or naturalized citizens. There's absolutely zero about these people that make them "homegrown" or American other than possibly obtaining a citizenship. They share zero moral character, traditions, values, personality, or since of pride to be an American. Sure someone can always find one or two outliers and present that as a rebuttal. However the overwhelming vast majority there is no assimilation to become American when migrating here now. That is the major difference now, versus the 1700's through about WWII give or take.

- They want to know why these men were not arrested before they did something so terrible
Arresting someone for pre-crime, before a crime has been committed, is unlawful. Arresting someone for ideals, thoughts isn't lawful. That being said Russian FSB did notify the US about the Tsarnaev's. The FBI did interview Tamerlan Tsarnaev in 2011, tracked them for a period of time. Yet the government is more concerned about collecting your text messages, phone calls, internet history, financial transactions and fondling you at the airport. Never mind the quick nothing story of the Saudi national who has major connections to the event and people of power, to suddenly depart back to Saudi Arabia. More on that in another post.
If the people and government truly didn't want this to occur they would simply deny them access to the country. You're from Saudi Arabia. Sorry you can't come. You're from Kazakhstan sorry you can't come. Instead the government transports them here in the thousands and dumps them into American cities. The government needs an excuse, government needs an enemy, they do everything do get them here. This is knowing that some percentage of the now 100k+ Somalis that are now here will be disgruntle with US policy of bombing their countries. The government sets the stage for events to occur.
The United States of America is a nation of laws with a justice system. No it isn't perfect, but it's likely the best in the civilized world. The creation of such, the founders used thousands of years of repressive authoritarian rule as the premise for construction and preventative measures with limitations of power to prevent the travesties of centuries past. Thus even though the most vile, disgusting human beings to ever walk the either simply can't be shot on sight like the snake analogy. This is what makes our country different from third world countries like Rwanda. We can't simply apply or ignore the rule of law when convenient or not, it's steadfast.
We will be judged by how we treat the least among us.
The government is completely complicit and corrupt in all of the events they currently present to us, every vector, every metric, every reason. It's all a facade. Until the country "the people" demand truth, integrity, honesty, even when the message is less than desirable, there will be nothing to change the country. It's highly likely the entirety of the situation is too far gone to change course.
Going out and expecting the killing of people will suddenly bring peace and stability, isn't feasible, it's a goal that can't be accomplished ever. Thinking we can be successful kill all our enemies, killing people who simply hate us, is irrational. This mindset causes the falls of empires. We are not an exception. Our empire is crumbling before our eyes. Will the people take notice and morally act before a calamity occurs? Likely not.
