| Ultimate Three-Quarter-Ton HD Challenge - Quote :
- It's been years since we've brought the newest and biggest heavy-duty pickup trucks together for a head-to-head comparison test, and with the changing marketplace and upgrades to the trucks, this ultimate test could not be more timely. We wanted to see how each of these big gas-engine haulers compared in a no-holds-barred road-and-track test. In fact, this test is so big we've decided to call it "Ultimate," and the testing was so severe we had to take more than two weeks to get it done.
Overview We made the challenge to each of the big HD truckmakers: Send us your best gas-engine crew-cab 4x4s under $50,000 and we'll test them to find out who is the champ. Ford sent the 2015 F-250 6.2-liter; GM sent the Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD 6.0-liter; and Ram sent the 2500 6.4-liter Hemi.
OVERVIEW
The Tests We've broken this test into 16 different empirical tests, each proportionally scored in relation to how each pickup performed. We ran each truck down a quarter-mile track, empty and loaded, near its max gross vehicle weight limits; ran the trucks (empty and loaded) on a Michigan fuel-economy route; and took the three players to Davis Dam (at max payload) on the Arizona/Nevada border and Colorado's infamous Eisenhower Grade (near max towing capacity).
Milan Dragway ... Fuel Economy ... Milford Hill Climb ... Braking ... Davis Dam ... Eisenhower Pass
Results To find out which was the best overall three-quarter-ton pickup, we calculated the total from our 16 different quantitative tests and combined that number with our expert judges' scores; they rated each competitor in six different categories. See which pickup stands alone at the top.

| Here they ding GM for having - Quote :
- substantive issues with the HDs' conventional front short- and long-arm independent front suspension and old-as-dirt leaf spring setup.
Then here they praise it. - Quote :
- The GMC, although the least expensive truck in our test, offered the smoothest and most comfortable ride over many uncomfortable road surfaces.
This is sort of like the OHV V8. The basics are old as cave men. Today it still works really well in many applications. Then they chastise Fords - Quote :
- Most of the issues we had with this 2015 Super Duty had to do with ride quality and interior design. Sure, you can discount the latter to individual taste, but our test vehicle struggled in places the other two did not, suffering from "the jitters" over expansion joints or small potholes in uncomfortable ways (particularly on the bad highways north of Flagstaff, Ariz.). We'd also like to see the F-350 do less squatting and less "butt-dragging" when loaded or towing. It's a characteristic that exists across the entire lineup.]suspension and chassis.
minus the extra unqualified ribbing.

| PUTC jumped the shark when Mike left. It's just a gaggle of douchebags over there running the show now. | |

That gaggle of douchebags comes with a big price tag ... "Gannett Co. has agreed to pay $1.8 billion for the 73% stake of online ad-listings firm Cars.com that it doesn't own in a deal that could be announced as soon as Tuesday, according to people familiar with the situation.
The business was put up for sale earlier this year, with hopes of generating a sale price of as much as $3 billion. The final deal values the site at $2.5 billion." - Wall Street Journal

| I liked PUTC when Mike was there, I don't like Mark Williams and his way of doing things it seems the shootouts are won by his opinion and not which is the best | |

| Of course, Mike was a classy guy compared to the current mess. I've been a member since feb 2000 and am sad to see the decline of what was once the premiere pu truck site. However, Mike probably got a good deal both on the sale and employment opportunity. Can't blame him at all. | |
