Clyde The Ride developed a Vibration

Problem:

2006 Tundra 2X4 double cab V8 5-spd automatic ran perfectly until a few days ago when it developed a 'thrumming' sounding vibration at parking lot speeds, even coasting, using no brakes and in neutral. Today it is almost constant and, for the first time did it at freeway speed.
Dex, my mechanic checked U-joints, brakes and undercarriage and found all okay.
He thinks maybe LSD clutches are chattering and suggests changing the SVGQT-EA which was treated with ADATB-EA and have been in use 100k miles.
Is it possible the oil, which seems healthy, is the problem?
* SVGQT-EA is Amsoil Severe Gear 75W-90 Extreme Pressure Lubricant.
* ADATB-EA is Amsoil Slip Lock Gear Oil Additive.

What think you?

I've had clutch plates chatter but only in turns.
Removed the synthetic fluid and filled with regular 80w-90 and it went away.

It is possible the LS additives are used up and causing chatter but does it do it while going in a straight line?

Turns out a tire had some cupping.

The root cause of the tire cupping is in the suspension somewhere. Usual suspects are ball joints, wheel bearings, or control arm bushings. Or a combination of parts contributing to the condition like wheel bearings and shocks for instance.

Never thought I'd be in this thread, but after only 260,000 miles, the crummy, cheap Toyota driveshaft failed. ....
It began with a mild vibration that we thought might be in the tires, but they are, essentially new with maybe a couple thousand miles on them.
Eventually I discovered the failed bearing:

Which, by the oddest coincidence is not replaceable.

So I drove to Sacramento to get a replacement. Used because my truck is full of used parts....
Got 17 MPG, so that was good.

It is odd that you can't replace the carrier bearing.

Good to hear you are getting it fixed.

I have replaced the carrier bearing on Chevy and Fords, they were not fun to change but a second set of hands was helpful. I'm sure you can change them on the Toyota but maybe it was just less expensive and less work to swap out the whole piece.

Y'all are right. Of course the driveshaft can be rebuilt. However paying someone, and that I'm in California, made replacing it cheaper.

The culprit.


OOPS! This was a culprit too! It made the cutest sounding squeak, squeak, squeak.


We used Clyde the Ride to tow the silver Volvo so Dex could make one of those two. First time I got to tow since I left Africa.


The new oil seal goes in.


And the propeller shaft.


Went home and checked my lemon tree.

Truck looks like it is good shape.
What a difference working inside and having a lift makes. It's nice to have a mechanic you can trust.

I wonder if it would be clever to take a camera below and map-out the rinsing/washing of the underside after driving in salty slush.
How often would it be necessary?
