Just driving down a local road.

No that's not an abandoned road in the middle of nowhere. It's just an undeveloped area next to a rather large sports park. The road was most likely made in the 50's during the building boom and GDC went bust berfoe building there. You can find houses a few roads down, but with the big development disaster in the early aughts I don't expect any building there anytime soon.

I've run across entire neighbor hoods plotted out on the auditor websites but most don't have roads in them. It was from the boom era back in the '60s/70s before all the steel mills closed in the area.

Reminds me of old abandoned California highways (Old Hwy 80) paralleling interstate 8 between San Diego and El Centro.

It's amazing to imagine these were state of the art roads Americans traveled. Today they look like someone's driveway. It's a twin slab concrete poured in the 1930's.
