| Wish I could get it in my area.
Yea it's a night and day different experience. I've got 10 Mpbs down via a cable service that averages 12 to 17 Mbps that's certainly decent enough for me to use it for work demo's webex's and such.
Streaming or downloadable content is now an option versus traditional dish and cable services with a fiber service.

| Yup, i'll be looking into Netflix or something similar now. Had to cease the pirating as the authorities are cracking down. Daughter stopped her TV service about a year ago and streams everything now. | |

| Nice, I'm jealous! Once you go fiber you don't go back. We're maxed with our DSL (32Mps down). There's some talk of Google possibly adding Phoenix to the list of next cities to be upgraded with fiber. Otherwise I'll need to move and if I do it'll probably be a more remote destination. | |

| 32 Mbps is really good with DSL. When I was using DSL back 4 years ago most I could get was 3 Mbps. It was really bad and inconsistent. Doing a WebEx demo for a customer, it would just die. VoIP dead. Having to dial back into the conference call by mobile phone is pretty embarrassing.
How much speed to do you have down Greg? 20, 30, 50 Mbps?

| This is what it says in the manual.... "With Bell Fibe Internet, you enjoy blazing-fast speeds of up to 50 Mbps. And in neighbourhoods where fibre optics is delivered directly to the home, you get even faster speeds: up to 175 Mbps for both download and upload."
I'll have to do a speed test to see what it actually is.
I was at 20 mbps with DSL. This is a lot faster.

| Our DSL is suppose to be 40Mbs, of course you never get the max advertised.

| Unless satellite transmission companies drop their drawers on price or do something with ala-cart content, their days are numbered. Sort of like Blockbuster's story with video content delivery. They missed the opportunity on digital media transmission. Now they are no longer.
Satellite can't support amount of available transmission bandwidth capacity growth and flexibility that that fiber infrastructure can deliver for the same quantity of people for lower cost.

| We are stuck with fiber on the main highways and regular cable into the developments. My BIL who works for Verzion told me it is too costly with little return so they are not going any further with it. I need the internet, but could do away with the phone and TV from Comcast. Stream everything else. ____________________________________ Don't believe everything you read on the internet- George Washington.

Verizon will make the change but only after the competition forces their hand. Here's a story about AT&T being forced by Google to add fiber. Sounds like Google is even planning to add wireless services. Competition is a good thing. http://www.fool.com/investing/general/2014/04/15/att-goes-on-the-offensive-against-google-fiber.aspxSpeaking of google, I broke down and bought one of those new fangled nerdy google glasses today.

| It's in the mail, should get in a few days. And then I'll need to get some prescription lens made for it. I suspect way overpriced, bleeding edge, but it should add some nice capabilities. I'm hoping it supports near vision (presbyopia) for us over 40yo crowd otherwise I might need to give to my daughter. | |

| I was complaining my satellite and internet bill was $180. I've got it down to $116 with a cable internet bundle.
$90 bucks annually plus $3.XX in taxes per month for my Ooma premiere service with two lines. Mostly use it for work, but the home phone is my second line. Work pays for my mobile phone, though for the ladies around the casa all their mobiles together run $160.
In total we're running around $285 a month for home phone, TV, internet and mobile phones.

Looks like the NJ Shore 4G wireless options are pretty limited. You're probably stuck with Verizon.

Looks like the NJ Shore 4G wireless options are pretty limited. You're probably stuck with Verizon. Verizon it is for the phones. 5 smart phones and 4 Galaxy tablets. $316/month and that includes my 15% government discount. Comcast for the cable TV, phone, and internet. Started out at $140, now just about at $300. I have got to get rid of the phone, get just the basic cable and internet. ATT is available, but service is spotty. Verizon Fios is about 10 miles north, quick, but also expensive. ____________________________________ Don't believe everything you read on the internet- George Washington.

| I have XM for the truck, but this year I had to let it expire and have them call me to get back as a customer. They wanted $149/year, I settled on $99. It's a pain to do it every year but it saves money. ____________________________________ Don't believe everything you read on the internet- George Washington.

| XM/Sirius is the same way. They seem to increase it yearly but they will blink when challenged.

| I haven't done any speed test yet, but I can tell you it only takes a couple minutes to download a two gig video file. Everyday surfing is instant from one page to the next. I'm just waiting now for the first bill to see how much I was lied to about billing. | |

| Google fiber cant get to me soon enough. Faster speeds and cheaper service. I don't really have any complaints about the speed I'm getting (about 20 to 30mps) since it is fast enough to do what I use it for. But I'm tired of my bill constantly going up for no dam reason. Comcast overcharges and often under delivers. I think they are throttling me because of my Netflix use. I sometimes have to call them to ask whats going on with my connection. Any one who has ever dealt with Comcast customer service knows how fun that is Of course after I complain to them it suddenly speeds back up again. | |

| The Cable and Satellite Companies need to adapt and adapt fast. If not, they will soon go the way of Book Stores, Music Stores and Printed news. | |

| It's only a matter of time, but how long is the question. If Comcast gets the green light to buy Time Warner things are only going to get worse before they get better. Not to mention net neutrality would take a bigger hit than it already has Comcast would suddenly own around 40% of the market, and will gouge people until others can get the fiber infrastructure expanded, and that's gonna take a while. It's sad how the US has fallen so far behind in this area. Other countries are laughing at what we call high speed internet. | |
