True, paying about $6,000 to upgrade an already expensive Jeep seems a bit of a stretch, but there is another way to look at it: If you need to do serious off-road driving and need that vehicle to be as capable as a Wrangler, you would spend quite a lot of cash to build such a vehicle. The investment cost might even out in the end.

A few of the dealers around here have those on the lots. They jacked them up well above the 6 grand cost of the kit though.

edit--they've actually come down on that one. It's been sitting for most of a year though. Still want 40k for it.

I would assume they want to recoup the 12-14 hours of labor involved in installation?

Is the $40k truck just asking cost for the vehicle and the JK-8 kit, or does it have all kinds of other stuff on it?

It's a Wrangler Unlimited with the Sahara package with the JK-8 kit installed. Middle of the road between Sport and Rubicon packages. Nothing special. Leather seats and side steps basically.
