Xbox or PS

I think we'll break down and finally get a video gaming system for the kids this holiday. I gather the PS4 is geared for more serious gamers whereas Xbox will be more mainstream, run apps etc. Sounds like both are very capable machines. The Xbox is about $100 more.

I'm thinking we'll go Xbox to complement our windows 8 desktop. I'll bet there won't be much of sale for the holidays.

The sony seems to have a better track record for durability.
My brother and myself are on our second Xbox360 and mine has acted up a couple of times again. When we bought ours it was for the Halo series of games and only Xbox had them. If not for that there is a good chance I'd have bought the PS3.

From what I understand, you need to pay for Xbox Live to play on line, whereas it's free with the PlayStation. Not sure if that's an issue for anyone or if it will remain the same with the new platforms.

If I buy one of these new "Next Gen" consoles, it will be the PS4..

I have just always been a Playstation fan since the PS1, and I don't plan on defecting anytime soon..

A lot to take in. I'm not sure we want or need the live stuff. They call it social as friends can watch tv programming together or play the same game. Weird. $5/mo for xbox is a downer if it's needed at all.

Xbox is trying to be an entertainment hub. Aside from that the only real advantage one has over the other is games that are only offered on one system or the other.
