Husky Corporation and Fuelmatics AB collaborate on the next generation technology that makes drive-through vehicle fueling possible. The system was unveiled at the 2013 PEI Convention at the NACS in Atlanta where petroleum industry, convenience store, and service station executives viewed live demonstrations.

Probably good for high density fueling stations that don't rely on convenience store sales.

I go to Costco and take which ever lane is the shortest. Sometimes I drag the nozzle over the vehicle as it saves time. And when traveling I want to get out of the vehicle to stretch my legs, use the bathroom, get something to eat/drink. Filling stations would lose out on convenience store sales and that might be where they make most of their money.

I'm thinking that'll be a bust.

I don't know. I see more and more people paying at the pumps (including myself) with their credit/debit cards.

I was thinking the new tech would add costs to a fueling station owner selling a product with little profit margin. I could see them in upgraded busy neighborhoods where drivers don't want to get dirty.

Next they'll have urinary catheters slip inside car windows to empty your bladder and a Starbucks tube fills your coffee mug. All for a fee of course. Smile

Convenience stores make most of their money on snacks and drinks. They woukdnt want these. At least for all their pumps.

As long as the two tubes aren't mixed up, I'm in.

That suction cup would scratch the shit out of your paint when it's covered in winter salt/grime.

Also, what about fuel doors that lock and/or automatically pop open when released from inside? My fuel door on my Vette pops out when released.

The scary part about this is they will somehow convince the EPA that its better for the environment. Maybe less spillage or something like that. And instantly the government will justify billions of tax dollars be spent to make this mainstream.

It doesn't say how you tell the robot cash or credit, which octane you need. In NJ we don't have self service, we just tell the kid at the pump what we want and our gas is still cheap. Right now its $3.07.

It looks like a new source of revenue for lawyers ....

"Has your automotive finish been damaged by an automatic refueling system? Are you now suffering from the associated mental distress? You may be entitled to compensation. Dial LAW-1000".

Yeah, have heard several stories about gas being put in Diesel trucks over the years as well.

I've heard the same horror stories. When it happens, the stations do pay to correct it. I've heard there is a lot of confusion out of state with BP stations as their pumps all have green handles. I drove a diesel here in NJ for 10 years and never had it happen, but usually the diesel pumps are separate from the gas pumps. I do remember way back when we had a company car that was diesel and the guy at the pump put 5 gallons of gas in it before we realized what was happening.

Yes BP is opposite at least here in NY. I goofed last winter but was only a gallon and a half or so and I was beyond empty so much I took 38 1/2 gallons of diesel on top and they say my tank holds 36.
