CUV's-  what would you choose? DW's Escape has left her stranded 3 times over the last year. She's not interested in crossing the Rubicon or doing Moab ... just a safe, economical, roomy, good in the snow vehicle. This is a bit after the fact- there's a new 2013 Honda CR-V AWD sitting in the garage. I had intended to ask you guys but last Monday we were going to go to the State Fair but it was too dang hot and humid so we decided to "just go look at cars". Left the check book at home ..... a lot of good that did us, Very Happy  .

Congrats on the wife's new ride! The choices for CUV's are damn near endless. Too many to choose from. Most people will take an offering from their favorite brand. You certainly made a good choice with the CRV, though I'm sure someone will bash it just for being Japanese.

They'll have to bash Canuckistan, too .... this CR-V was made in Alliston, Ontario (most of the others on the lot were from Ohio) and a great job they did- really impressive build quality. Can't really knock the Escape- it had 162, 000 miles when we traded it in and served us pretty well though DW wasn't too happy when the alternator bit the dust and the car died on I-94 during rush hour traffic. The Escape was going to have some big expenses coming up before winter (tires, brakes, exhaust, struts, tranny service) so it was time. Not happy about having payments again but at least they're a known quantity every month.

I like the new CRVs. They're just a little bit bigger than the previous model year. I tried to get one as a rental for a recent trip but the rental company switched it at the last minute. Funny thing is I think they gave me a Ford Escape.

LOL, Dan. I look at it this way- if Momma ain't happy, ain't nobody happy. How's the pole barn coming along?

The new Escapes are nice and I tend to be  a Ford guy but .... DW liked the CR-V better. The tape measure may say different but the new generation Escape felt less roomy than her '05. There's 10 more inches from the back of the back seat to the tailgate in the CR-V than her '05. I'm 6', 280+lbs and felt more comfortable front or back seat than in either Escape- I'm still amazed at the amount of room in the CR-V for its size.

We have owned 2 Hondas and I am happy with both. We had a van, and now bought a 2010 Civic new for our son and so far no problems.

No matter the product line you can't beat a Honda(except ridgeline) from Airplane Engines to a Quad.

Very true!
Barn coming along, need to update the thread with progress and pics. Have contractors coming out to give est on concrete floor. Spread 100 tons of sand inside.

"If Momma ain't happy, ain't nobody happy."

Momma is happy ..... three tanks of gas through the AWD CR-V so far- 31.5 mpg, 32 mpg, and 32 mpg. A nice improvement over the 24- 25 mpg of her old front wheel drive Escape.
