In New Jersey, we have Taylor Ham/Pork Roll. Some people call it by one name, Taylor Ham I think was the original manufacturer, but when you go to a deli for breakfast, most will order it as Pork Roll with egg and cheese on a hard roll.

A few other names for the same thing thing I can think of:
Sub
Hoagie
Grinder
Poor Boy
Hero

Sadly, I can't think of anything food-wise that is unique to this area. Perhaps there is some seafood dish that is eluding me? *shrug*

We pretty much like whatever the rest of the country is eating..

.

Speaking of food, this Oregonian could really go for some real Philly Cheese Steaks and Texas BBQ right about now.. No

I NYC they seem to have a halal food vendor at every corner serving rice with a choice of chicken or lamb. Either tastes the same after they are done killing it on he griddle.

Good Portuguese food is hard to find unless you travel to Newark. My favorite is Paella.

I've got to get to the city and check out the food these vendors sell. I seldom get to Manhattan, and when I do we hit up a nice Italian play off Broadway.

Rich the vendors I know are spread throughout queens, nassau, and suffolk. But the halal vendors in the city aren't terrible. Next time your in the city check out this cheese steak joint on 33rd and 3rd i believe.
