Tough times and brokeback wife. Empty
PostSubject: Tough times and brokeback wife.   Tough times and brokeback wife. EmptyApril 30th 2013, 11:18 pm

Sorry I've been away guys. Been busy helping the wife. She has this uncanny ability to keep throwing her back out.

It was hurting three weeks ago so she went to the doctor. (She thought the new standard height toilet my be part of the problem)

It got a little better.

So she decided to do some vacuuming.

She threw it out again.

She went to the doctor and got a little better and a MRI.

The day of the MRI, she threw it out even worse. She couldn't even roll over on the bed. She said the pain was worse than labor pains. Shocked (I don't think I've ever heard that from a woman about any pain.) Of course it happened at night. Luckily I had some prescription pain pills from when I pulled my groin at work. Those helped enough through the night. I was able to get her a refill on some muscle relaxers and that helped immensely. (I also put in a new tall toilet to replace the old/new short toilet.)

She's got two bulged disks, a degenerating hip, and what is described as a "torn ligament" inside her spine (That's what brought the pain)

She's feeling a little better now.

She's not asking if she can go bowling on Friday.

Ouch! Sorry to her that. I hope she feels better soon. Maybe a little bowling after lots of rest? Smile

Brutal! Hope she's feeling better soon Ulmus. Are they talking about surgery to fix any of that?

I have back problems and they can be real painful. Hope your wife heals quickly. The disc's will be an ongoing problem, you feel good for a while then a nerve gets pinched and then it hurts like hell.

Thanks guys. She is slowly getting better. She has to drive my truck because it's easier for her to enter and drive, but is going to try her car tomorrow.

She also will be seeing the doctor tomorrow. Luckily no surgery is needed; possibly some shots for the nerves by the disks and more time at the chiropractor. (She wouldn't let me throw her backwards over a dented garbage can for some reason.)

I had a series of 4 shots for the nerves in my back. First set lasted 3 months, then less after the next 3. Finally gave up. Funny thing, I went to a massage center which the insurance didn't cover and was shocked to find that it gave me the most relief. $90 a visit, but it was well worth it even without a happy ending! Wink

Glad she is getting better.
My wife has back issues and you are lucky to be in the south as the cold is terrible on a bad back.

I guess that depends on the person. I have chronic lower back pain, and most of the time, it's not bad enough to keep me from my normal everyday activities, but when it really acts up, ice is the only thing that helps it, and heat seems to aggravate it. Sometimes doing the hot to cold and back again constantly for about 20 minutes, really helps with inflammation.

I have 3 bulging discs in my lower back along with other back problems. For a couple weeks a year I am in complete agony. If some of you guys remember when my family went to Hawaii with the ROV (robot sub) I couldn't even walk through the airport with having to stop and sit. Along with that the nerves cause sciatic which in itself can drive you crazy. I have had spinal injections, back crackers, pain pills but none of it worked for long. My boss was starting to get on my case as I would leave early every week to see one doctor or another to try to get some relief. One day he suggested a good deep massage therapist. Just to keep him happy, I made an appointment and paid the $90 out of pocket. This way I could say "see I tried it, now what". Well let me tell you, that more than anything else helps. It takes a day or two for it to make a big difference, but the sciatic almost never hurts, but I do occasionally still get back spasms that last a few days. I end up getting this massage once or twice a year and it has done wonders even without a happy ending LOL .

That is different as most if not all the people I know get better in the hot weather and they tighten up in the cold.

Yes, like I said, it depends on the person.
