Gun shots and lockdown at work today. Empty

I spent the day in the field watching a contractor install a fire hydrant. When I called in to get parts delivered I was told they were in a lockdown along with 3 schools. Apparently a block away from our site, someone fired between 4-8 shots. One contractor working at our site heard something whiz by his head and the police found a bullet lodged in their work trailer. Police had our offices lock all the doors and shut the gates. They have arrested a person of suspicion. Lots of blocked off roads and police as I made it back to the office. My first thought was there are a gang of bloods that have migrated from a town over. I guess I'll find out what really happened in the morning.

It's a crazy world out there. I read in the paper today that it was a 56 year old that shot at his neighbors house out his 2nd floor window with a shotgun loaded with slugs. $150,000 bail with no 10% bond. It seems he had a record and wasn't allowed to be in possession of a weapon. Idiot!

Good to hear your crew and company made it through unscathed.

Without a concealed carry law, carrying one in your vehicle is the next best thing IMHO. Sucks they won't let you guys carry.

Common sense indicates anything that needs protecting is protected with a firearm, bank, armored truck, President, every federal and government building, cockpit, politician security detail, etc. Mayor Bloomberg, doesn't hide his anti-gun agenda, yet is protected with guys private security with firearms constantly. The irony is sickening.

Laws don't and regulations don't stop crime, they might deter those on the fence of committing one, but don't stop it. Criminals don't care about laws, they are lawless, thus they don't care if they're breaking one or four laws. Once they've made a decision to break the law, laws won't stop them, only more force or a more efficient use of force will stop them, usually another firearm.

What you said make perfect sense, that must be why the government goes in the opposite direction. Time and time again statistics prove states with more liberal gun laws and allow CCW have less violent crime.
My wife and I have been talking about leaving NJ to get away from the overbearing government and foolish gun laws. She wants to move to Georgia, way too hot for me. I'm would like norther Texas, or best yet AK., put she doesn't take the cold so well with some of her medical problems. I want to let my son go to college for a year or two more until I feel comfortable getting him an apartment and moving away.

Same thing with the healthcare debacle. The Affordable part is ridden with such an ironic its again sickening. The act does nothing to control or make actual costs incurred predicable and or less. Absolutely nothing. Yet we're told this is great for the US. Though if it's so great why does every Congressional member have a their own plan that is far better than what we are offered? If the Affordable Care Act is so fantastic why don't members of Congress use it for their health plan as well? Ironic in that these representatives committed each and everyone of us to a plan that they themselves are not bound by. It defies simple logic.
