Boston Marathon

Very sad situation of course.

Still wondering how the city was caught with their pants down during the huge annual event. Plenty of police presence during but otherwise not enough effort with bomb sniffing sensors/dogs, cameras, etc. And trash cans at the start finish line and along the route? I give them an 'F' for public safety and planning.

Just goes to show that all the laws/control in the world can't stop bad people from doing bad things.

My heart goes out to all the victims and their families, the marathon participants, and the citizens of Boston. This is a horrific event.

I'm not sure I'd be so hard on them. Yea they could have beefed up security. Even to the point of a heavy military presence. But at what point do you start to sacrifice.

This saying runs through my head when I hear enough is not being done to keep us safe. "Those willing to give up liberty for security deserve niether and will lose both ".

We probably have a long way to go before it's a police state. Personally I'd prefer a little inconvenience versus another terror rampage. Of course it would be ideal to catch them prior to the act.

They are saying on the news that they either, "Have a suspect in custody."

Or, "They are about to arrest someone and place him in Federal custody.."

ETA: Now they are saying that they have someone under arrest..

According to CNN, the Department of Justice says no arrest made in Boston Marathon bombings.

The media at its finest. "We are going to report that an arrest has been made, but only until we report that an arrest has not been made. More truthful reporting would be, we are reporting out of our arsses, and that's all we can tell you.

Now some are saying a suspect has been identified. It shouldn't take too long once the a-hole's face is plastered on television etc.

And now poisonous ricin-laced letters are being sent to Members in the White House, including Obama.

Are the two related or just coincidence? With so many Americans pissed at the gov it could be anyone, not just from outside.

We're much further along toward that route than what 95% realize.

Under NDAA indefinite detention, no due process. Some government black hole gets to decide the criteria of who's selected. When the executive branch can't answer the question if they kill US civilians on US soil with a drone strike, there's a problem.

DHS procuring 1.6 billion rounds of ammunition, most of it hollow point. DHS procuring 2717 MRAP complete with multiple machine gun turrets.

In an open and free society, nothing and no one can be 100% safe, but that seems to be the expectation. Its impossible to meet this qualification. Moreover we're broke and going more broke by the moment. We spent more than we take in yearly tax revenue on military and security.

Just possibly if we quite occupying countries and blowing people up in multiple countries and regions around the globe, people will be less apt to want to blow us up?

I know as an American I'm not willing to have to get touched and inspected to go to the mall, or the ballgame, but that's what's coming. If so that's when I quit participating.

They won't get a chance to touch him. He won't be put into general population.

He'll be housed in a cell by his lonesome at a super max federal penitentiary.

The FBI had been warned in 2011 about the older brother being a radical Islam follower. They interviewed him but found no terrorism activity. I guess they quit following him shortly after that. Apparently he spent time in Russia about that same time.

I would be interested to find out more on the Saudi national who they first suspected and are now planning to deport out of the country. Additionally private security firm Craft International personnel appear all over the place before the bombing. Some of these personnel appear were within feet of the now alleged two bombing brothers. Why the Craft people were they there and who hired them might be interesting to understand as well.

I just want to understand all of the story, not one we're told to understand. Present me all evidence and let me decide. Unlike the 1995 OKC bombing when the video footage was confiscated and never made public, last word the FBI lost the footage.

Good thing today is that we have considerably better ways to document and exchange information now than we ever have been. That is unless CISPA will prevent our information flow.

It alleged the Saudi national has a long history and relations to known terrorists some of which are imprisoned at Guantanamo. Supposedly there's going to be a big release on this today from other than the mainstream outlets.

This looks similar to how it was done in Germany and Europe back 70 years ago. Yes the government in both cases has excuses of why this must be done.

I wasn't aware they fired 250 rounds into the boat where Dzokhar was hiding. Media simply forgot about this? Amazing he's alive. News yesterday said he sustained a wound in the neck and he isn't talking at this point. Why didn't they say the police shot him? Why all the secrecy? Is everything a lie? Anyone else see mentions of this on the new networks?



Where's Biden and his double barrel, firing off two warning shots out the back door? Biden needs to talk to these military....errrr police persons. Seems there's justification when trying to apprehend one guy, 50 officers with firearms with capability far exceeding 7 rounds. Yet if the situation were you or I, we should be able to do it with 7.

Who's this guy they took into custody? Completely naked at some point.



The aunt has alleged stated this is Tamerlan Tsarnaev. If it is him how does he go from being able to walk on his own, naked, cuffed to dead. Aunt also states law enforcement won't let her identify the body they have that the media earlier reported was Tamerlan shot with significant abdomen wounds.
