Waiting for the road test comparisons.
Kinda surprised with the tow rating being so much lower than the competition though.
Like the idea of the I6 for maintenance but question not using CGI on the block.

Truck still fugly.

GM finally released 3.0L diesel fuel econ ratings.

4x2: 23/33mpg city/hwy
4x4: 23/29mpg city/hwy

Who EVER thought a belt driven oil pump was a good idea?
Let alone one constantly exposed to oil.

You'd think a belt would disintegrate in motor oil but apparently it's a wet belt design intended for the engine sump. I had to look it up. Not very common but Ford has used them. Sounds like the benefits are reduced friction, less noise than a comparable chain drive system, less weight, less packaging, and less stretch.

It has a service life of 150K and you have to pull the transmission to replace.
For the same reasons you mention they use timing BELTS that don't run in oil and are relatively easy to change because you design for service. Instead of using a timing belt they opted for a chain at the rear of the engine as well. If they think the chain can last the life of the engine(no 3.6L repeat!) why not do the same for the oil pump which would be 1/10th the length.
