Now a record 47.8 million of the entire 315 million population are receiving SNAP benefits. To put this in perspective on the growth and trend, in 2008 there were 28.2 million people receiving SNAP benefits.

In summary the SNAP program has increased 59% in number of people receiving benefits, 15% of the entire US population.

There's a real chance the democratic party could take control of the country for the foreseeable future unless dramatic changes occur.

Ruffing it on food stamps....

That's crazy. There should be more sanity there. They need to enhance the current do not buy list (alcohol, cigarettes, junk food, sodas).

That's just crazy, the price of Lobster is way down right now! What the F am I doing wrong that both of us work and these people are buying lobster with food stamps? I don't mind helping out the guy who just lost his job and needs to feed his kids until he gets on his feet again, but this long term hand out to non citizens has got to end.

My dad just retired. He worked with a gentlemen of which had a huge extended family in a rather large single family home (4500sq ft approx). The story goes that most everyone in the house in receiving multiple social program benefits. Thus when they combine the wages of one with all of the provided social program benefits it presents a rather nice life.

We're too busy fighting wars or creating new ones to invest too much time and attention to this. Additionally these people vote.

My dad goes on to describe that they've studied the system and the qualifications for being accepted into the benefit programs. This information is passed around their ethic group as a template for others to apply and gain benefits.
