1997 Jeep wrangler

Picked up a 1997 jeep wrangler 4 cylinder 5 speed with a 150xxx miles today for cheap , going to sell the Cj7 now .

From what I can tell in the picture the body looks in nice shape. Good find.

It has a few issues but it was worth probably double what I paid for it , the owner was moving to Alabama ASAP for family illness .
Problems are
Hood is dented from flying up while driving .
Left rear has a small dent like they backed into something
No rear seat .
I think it needs a clock spring in the steering column as the windshield wipers don't work .

I think the clockspring is an open recall

I spent about an hour removing all of the prior owners electrical butchery , stereo and security system garbage .

I'm sure that's a decent engine, but are 90 day warranties typical for replacement engines?

I doubt that he would drop a $9K motor in that Jeep. He probably only paid a couple Grand for this rig.

Yeah, I got that. Just surprised at the warranty.

I think I will stick with my current engine , 9k is way go much for an engine .

Scored a power steering swap on ebay , manual steering sucks off road .

My winch mount showed up yesterday and power steering conversion also .

That cummins is a emissions legal package, but still a pricey item.

That jeep must have been a base stripper w/o power steering. Did it even have a back seat?

It was a base model no radio no back seat manual steering .

Mounted my Warn 9.5xp winch on my Wrangler today and ordered a steering shaft and some jounce bump stops .

I bought some stock steel wheels and mounted some 31/10.50/15 treadwright retread tires .

You will get years of enjoyment out of that Jeep. Looks good.

Will you be adding 2.5" lift springs for a little extra clearance?

No lift planned I did have to adjust the steering stops because the tires were rubbing the control arms .
