While I am still in the stock market, I have not bought or sold in quiet a while. I listened to my father in law and invested in Canadian dollars. I am down $5,000 on that investment and don't trust a market that brokers can trade faster than the news hits us regular consumers.
While in Florida a few weeks ago, a couple we were eating with was trying to convince me to invest in Iraq currency. There is no way to tell what the market will do when it hits 25,000.
On the other hand, my mutual funds are steady, slow but steady upward.

I do not have any investments in CC. Well unless it is indirectly thru my retirement accounts. This sounds like the dot coms, derivatives, etc. They will get the man rich but not us.

My investments sounds like Quig's. I try to hit singles with few strikeouts vs homeruns with lots of strikeouts.

I'm still waiting for Gold to go back to the $1,600 per oz. I paid for it. I have the one ounce coins. I should have purchased it in smaller denominations.

A few coworkers are in the CC craze.
One seems to have made a boatload of money but he followed almost 24/7, made his own programs to track it etc. One of the few of the regular people who cashed in on it.

The crypto phase sounds promising but there's lot of pitfalls. I like having something that isn't a fiat currency but it's gone up too fast. It's a bubble. It's pure speculation, probably ok for a small part of your nestegg. I'm not in it. There's too many issues for me. There's too many new initial coin offerings. Some countries are creating their own ICOs to bypass sanctions. Underworld crime and terrorism. Requires the internet. Hacking risk. Potential for government sanctions. How slow it is to make a trade or get you money back.

I've thought about investing but I feel like I would need to read up on it for weeks just to start to try to understand it and in that time a lot of it will change.

I hear Universities are only starting to develop coursework to prepare grads to learn about it all. It's the wild west.
