Taking a look at a Titan XD crew cab this morning. The Ram 1500, even after I upgraded the rear coil springs, is just too spongy and moves too easily when its windy while towing.

A big part of towing trailers is a longer wheel base with the 8' bed. I traded in my older diesel 8' after 9 years thinking a short bed would be easier to park since towing was a once in a while event.
Before I had my Chevy diesel, I had bought a new 98 Dodge 2500HD with a 5.9L. while the truck had the stiff suspension, the engine didn't have the power on the long mountain steep grades.
There is usually a trade off when a truck is used both as a daily driver and then a tow vehicle.

In my neck of the woods they've got some big discounts on Titan's - on a 1/2 ton reg. cab, 8' box 4x4 11K and 12K off the sticker, nicely equipped. Sorely tempted but my ticker is acting up again. Same 11K and 12K off XD's too .... they've got a regular cab XD diesel  for $35,000.

I picked up a XD crew cab 5.6 gas one. Listed for right at 47k, got it for 31400. I will post pics later. It is a far more substantial truck than the Ram 1500.

Congrats on the new truck, Jason!

(I, personally, still can't stand those Nissan Titan front ends, though. It needs tweaking, IMHO.. )

Great looking truck and one hell of a deal and I'm guessing it should tow really well. I'm a bit surprised at the Ram- I would of thought it would tow better than it does. Do you think the use of coils vs leafs in the rear hurts it?

Yes, its just too light in the ass. It pulls fine, just have to be up on the wheel at all times.

Looks nice, waiting for some real world towing reviews.

Could be Ram using too soft of a rubber compound in the multi-link rear suspension.

Its crazy how overrated for towing the modern half tons have become. The power might get the load moving, but 10000+ lbs is just insane in one of them. There just isn't enough to of the rest of the truck(s) to safely handle those loads, IMHO. Brakes, suspension, etc...

So far limited HD bumpers, like a ranch hand, for the Nissan.
I'm sure they will start showing up in time.

I'm writing my state and federal congressmen and senators pushing to make culling idiots legal.

This idiot has been there less than 6 months and has hit two vehicles so far in the parking lot.

nice rig.

welcome to the jap crap family, HEHE

I know what you mean about the ram, some of them have payloads as little as 700 lbs for a crewcab.

my tundra feels like a tank compared to my ram.

Nice. I think the gasser XD is the one to buy versus the 5L Cummins.

It most definitely is. My buddy had a 5L XD and he lemon lawed because of major suspension issues. The dealer had several trucks already lemonlawed and a few there for warranty.

I ordered a different shank for my weight distribution hitch. One I had didn't have enough drop for this truck.

Other than that, it has pretty much everything I need on it. Factory bedliner, cargo tie down system, led bed lighting.

First Tow with it this past Saturday--handles the load far, far better than the light Ram did. Lots more stable towing, gas mileage was a wash between the two.
