Got cleared on Friday to come back to work. Got here, had about 2500 emails stacked up and waiting, "right click, mark all as read"....took care of that nonsense and awaiting the idiot onslaught.

I am the IT manager at a company that builds, installs and supports Dealer Management Systems in Farm Equipment Dealerships throughout the US and Canada.

Got a line on a Systems Engineer job at Atmos Energy. Got a few friends on the inside pushing for me. They got an email yesterday evening telling HR to get the interview process setup.

It pays almost double what I'm making now. 7am-3:30pm hrs. Great benefits, lots of off time. OK to work from home when needed.

It seems these days the only way to make a nice raise in income is to move to a new company every few years. This new job you are hoping to get sounds nice. I like going to work early and getting out in the day when there is still time to get things done. Good luck, I hope you get the job.

Rich you're right. Companies don't seem to get why they have relatively high turnovers in some departments. So far my job has gone through 3-4 part time drivers and I've been there since July. I'm not fixin to stay long at this place just till I can get a state or a union job. I hate giving into a union but it seems to be the only way to have job security and have improvements in a position without having to have a resume 6 miles long anymore. Provided you're not a complete screw up.

I think most companies just don't give a crap whether the employees come or go. They hire another worker at a lower pay rate. Slowly they give a raise, then if the employee stays fine, if not, hire a new guy.
Working as a substitute teacher, they don't care if I sit home for 3-4 days at a time until they work me. Then when they are busy you are expected to be ready to go when they call at 05:30. They don't care about me, I don't care about them. When I want a day off I take it as they don't care how much time I sit at home waiting to be called in. Yet, the have a website saying they need substitutes to start immediately. If I can't get at least 3 days a week in I will start working someplace else come January.

As long as the hiring and firing doesn't effect Big Boss's Bonuses to themselves, the piss-oned can come an go as they will.

Misplaced loyalty in a company these days is even more idioctic than brand loyalty.

Had a phone interview and test last Thursday, apparently I did well enough on that to get an interview in person. They will be calling this week to set that up.

Wear nice cloths, suit, no shorts
Don't put on too much makeup
Don't sexually harass the secretary
Don't arrive with a bagel and coffee
Turn cell phone off
Shave and shower
You will do fine. Your not a kid and know how to give a good interview, good luck!

I was reading last week the 12 things not to do in a job interview. Do you really have to tell people the following:
Not enough makeup
Too much makeup
Taking a cell call while being interviewed
show up 15 minutes early
Wear clean cloths
Have good hygiene, (don't smell)
Don't wear too much perfume
Don't bring in your own cup of coffee
Don't eat during the interview
Don't interrupt the interviewer
All common sense, and people have to be told these things?

Then there is the "what is your greatest weakness" question.

Interviewer: So, what do you think is your greatest weakness Mr Pup?

pup: Well, I believe it is honesty sir.

Interviewer: I don't think honesty is a weakness Mr Pup.

pup; Well I don't give a f#*k what you think!

Things should go just fine if you don't follow my example. Back at work 1072410463

Sadly our country is teaching kids its OK if you're an idiot. You just be yourself and you have to be accepted now, even if you don't like to shower, can barely speak english, cut corners on your first day at work, tell your boss how things should be don't in your first week on the job, expect a raise just for showing up to work on time consistently...

We just hired a bunch of newbies at work a few weeks ago. Holy hell, they are some of the dumbest people. You just hangs up on customers and denies it. Another keeps falling asleep at his desk. And the "Leadership"(I call them management, I refuse to use the L word when referring to them) there are a bunch of clueless, I can come and go as I want because I don't have a time sheet, I'll lie to your face and then deny it ever happened by lying as many times as I need to.

Pup, you ever installed a system down at BE Equipment in Brownfield?

They are a John Deere dealer, most of those use a proprietary JD system.

Closest dealers around Lubbock are Browns Power in Tulia, Silverton and Floydada. Got a dealer in Lamesa, one in Muleshoe, one in Hereford, one in Plainview, Vernon, Abilene....
