I picked up a 1987 Chevy V20 pickup yesterday , it has not run in 9 years we broke the engine loose (number two cylinder was rusted tight ) and she is running now but needs new freeze plugs as they are rusted through probably why it was sitting .

Sweet!
Should be TBI 350, Th400, np208, 9.5 rear and 10 bolt front?

Those look good in two tone as well.

How has the body held up? Much rust?

I removed the front clip to pull the engine to replace the freeze plugs as they are rusted through , and there is quite a lot of rust on the cowl , I think it is going to be like a rat truck brush beater type of thing since the cab is so rusty .

Hmm, I'm on the fence about pulling the clip.
The engines come out pretty fast in those trucks.
But, I have pulled the clips before too.

Still sounds like fun.

I got the engine running again after new head gaskets and repairing the broken exhaust manifold bolt , parts list so far
Exhaust manifolds L/R
Tune up set
New radiator
Thermostat
Oxygen sensor
I think it was about $650 for parts so far .

It is near ready to drive on the road , I still need to repair the read window opening as it is pretty rusty , I have never had a vehicle that needed so much work .

Took the truck out for its maiden voyage after being parked for about nine years , here is a picture at the beach I still don't have the instrument cluster or back glass in yet , I am going to get a load of fire wood
with it in a week or so .

Looking good.
At least yours is running. My V30 is still sitting in the yard where I dropped it off. I did however put in an old starter (12V) and managed to fire it up with some hot wires to the pump and GP relay. So I now it does run, that is a relief right there.

It's empty now but it used to be a ww2 bunker , we used to camp in them when we were kids the bunker in the picture was locked one time when we were kids and we got in and there was old food in there , I got the double dog dare to eat some and I survived the challenge .
