They used a Prevena incision closure system, some titanium sternal talons and and elastic type chest harness instead of the old wire it back, sutures and a pillow when you cough. Im way ahead of the other folks who had the surgery at the same time whos dr's used the old tech. Pain has been more than managable. No morphine since Friday night and only 1 hydrocodone about every 5hrs. Might get to go home tomorrow.

That's some good news. It's good you got off the morphine so quick.

Sounds great. Hopefully you'll be at 100% in no time. Back to cooking ribs, sausage, hamburgers, pork chops, peppers, and brisket!

They removed the last of the bandages and dressings this afternoon and let me take a shower. It felt damn good.

Great news, you'll feel so much better when you get to sleep at home again.

Are you going to have a health care worker stop by for a while helping to change the bandages on the vacuum pump?

The Prevena pump makes things heal about twice as fast as nornal they said. The incision does look a few weeks old. I bet it hardly leaves a scar in the end.

Getting stronger each day. After a 3/4 mile walk this morning, I cooled down a bit, less than 5 minutes my BP was 122/81 with a heart rate of 82. Still sore and cant sleep for shit, but Im making strides in the right direction

2 weeks after, walked a mile this morning. Heart rate is getting lower and lower each time after a walk. BP hasnt been this low in 20yrs. Stamina is building. Soreness is fading, finally got what passes for a decent nights sleep last night too. Feeling better all around.

I saw on facebook you're doing well. I'm glad to hear it. I need to make an appointment for the cardiologist myself being I'll be getting insurance from my newish job shortly. I generally don't follow up on things after I'm feeling better, but messing with the heart is too scary.

Wow... great to hear.  You're way ahead of where I was two weeks out on both my open heart surgeries. Walking a mile? ... the first few days I was home I thought I was doing good to make it from the kitchen to bathroom... think Tim Conway's "World's Oldest Man". Sounds like they've made some advances and that combined with your attitude will have you fully recovered in no time. Keep up the good work.
