I have plenty of sun, but our soil here close to the ocean is not good for a lot of crops. If I dig down past 12" I get sand. When you get half way across the state the soil gets better for farming. Most of South West Jersey is farmland. In my area, tomatoes are some of the best in the country. We are also known for being the capital of blueberry farms. Cranberry bogs are also in abundance. We can grow peppers, string beans, potatoes, carrots, squash and a few others but are somewhat limited due to soil conditions. I have to water everyday as the water runs right thru the soil and sand.
