PostSubject: For you Stout drinkers   January 21st 2017, 10:35 pm

My son every Christmas either buys or makes me a special usually one off kind of beer or liquor. I prefer his clear homemade corn but this year he gave me a few bottles of different stouts that he picks up as he travels the state for his work. This year he gave me Speedway Stout, and I must say it has got to be the best tasting stout that I have tasted outside of the small micro brews out there. If you come across it pick up a bottle, you won't regret it.

Dang, I was in San Diego the last few days and for the life of me couldn't remember the name of that beer! My laptop browser didn't have the forum link so I was SOL. Anyway, I stopped in to Ale Smith's brewery, sampled some beers, and bought their .394 beer. It's smooth. I'll have to buy the Speedway next time.

San Diego has a bunch of micro breweries in the same area that once was open field bike trails where I use to ride/race dirt bikes. Times have changed!

I would love to be able to visit the brewery. I'm waiting for my son to get in so I can open a bottle of the Speedway Stout. I have found a couple of places that sell it but it doesn't have volume sales and I don't know how available it will be in the future.

I just checked and Total Wine sells Speedway locally - it ain't cheap ($14.95) but it gets very high ratings.

I have paid $12.99 for the 750mL bottle. I thought that was a little overpriced. Last night I had a bottle, savored every sip I drank. Most times I just want a pint and opening the bottle leaves little choice if you don't share it.

I picked up a 750ml bottle today. Looking forward to trying but will wait for the right time.

It is definitely a drink that you want to sit and relax while enjoying it. I find that if I'm with a group, I'm just drinking and not enjoying as much. Until given this Stout for Christmas I drank only a few times a year. Now, I would say I average a bottle (usually shared) every 3 weeks or so. I do savor the flavor.

This micro-brewer is about 2 miles from my house. They have some pretty good beer. I haven't tried their stout yet, but I will next week. We have a Jeep Club meet there next Thursday.

We have a small micro brew in town that is pretty good, They have unusual hours, 2-8 Friday and Saturday. Sunday they only sell growlers.

My oldest son just sent me a picture of a 16 oz. can that he is seeing in stores, $7.99. I might have to go back to Wild Turkey 101.

I read somewhere 8oz of Speedway Stout contains the equivalent of an espresso. Rut roh, I had to give up coffee years ago due to headaches. Worst case my wife will enjoy it.

My oldest son just stopped by with the new 16oz. can of Speedway Stout. It came off a shelf like the bottle so I will have to wait a few hours to try it. $8 a pint. This week I saw a listing of the top 50 beers in the world. Speedway was #30.
