Oil Filters.... Empty
PostSubject: Oil Filters....   Oil Filters.... EmptyJanuary 18th 2017, 5:58 pm

My son came home this weekend and while home, I changed his oil and filter. Later that evening my wife tells me the shop at school is going to put her Yukon on the lift for a lookover, and do I want the oil changed? I have the oil, but ran out of filters.
Online to Amazon Prime.
I ordered 5 Honda oil filters (cheaper for five than buying one at a time, and a bag of crush washers).
2 Wix XP filters for the Hyundai
2 Wix XP filters and 2 Mobil 1 Extended filters for the Yukon and my Silverado. They both take the same filter and I decided to buy each brand and see which one I like. I've been using Mobil 1 oil and filters for a long time but know from experience Wix and Napa Gold are also excellent.
And finally 4 quarts of Honda transmission oil for the Civic (plus crush washers). If you use another brand the trans just doesn't work right according to blog after blog and forum visits.

I have most of the oil, I can change my truck, the Honda again, so I just need another 7 quarts to do the other 2 vehicles. 3 out of the 4 can use the 5W-30, the Honda uses 5W-20. I use synthetic on all the vehicles. Even though changing oil can be a pain in the winter, it is still worth it in savings to do it myself. And I know it's done right with the correct oil.
I'll wait another month or so when it's a little warmer out and change the Honda Transmission, My truck, my other sons Sonata. I'll let the school do the wife's Yukon. The oil I usually purchase from Costco on sale, but Walmart has some good deals that make it worth buying there. Walmart just doesn't have a good selection of a good oil filter.

Oil Filters.... Empty

Both of my Jeeps came with free oil changes and tire rotations at the dealer. I have 4 or 5 left on them, after that, I'll do them myself. They use a semi-synthetic blend and OEM filters. No issues yet and I have it changed more often than what their recommended intervals are.

I use Wix filters on my Harley and 4wheeler. Mobile 1 0x20 for the Polaris and some Castrol Synthetic 20w50 in the Harley.

One of my brothers works at a auto parts / hardware / farm supply / fuel store so I get all my filters and oil at cost.

Out two cars came with free oil changes but by the time I drive to the dealer, wait, and pay extra for the synthetic I would rather just do them at home. I wish I could get filters at cost. The filters and crush washers ran me around $120.

I have a dealer right close to my work. I run over during a late lunch and I'm in and out.

Within 2 miles of my house there is an Auto Zone, Advanced Auto, and Walmart. Walmart doesn't sell the Mobil 1 filters, just the oil. The other two have the Mobil 1 oil filters for around the same price as Amazon, but I figured I'd do one stop shopping and get everything I need delivered free with Amazon Prime.
Car dealers for OEM filters are each about 15 miles north and south of me in the bigger towns.
